Do dealers know when deliveries are being made ahead of time? It seems like folks here are surprised to find their cars have been delivered. Is it reasonable to ask my dealer to let me know when it is being delivered so I can be there for it? I am expecting it within the next week, in NJ.

Not usually. They have access to the highly unreliable tracking info so they take that with a grain of salt most times.

My dealer says he never really knows until the truck rolls up to the dealership. On the bright side.....it's like Christmas every week because they never know what to expect. ?‍♀

I was afraid of that. Mine said it was showing delivery on March 1, but figured it would probably be sooner than that. Amazing it is so vague for them and us for that matter.

Not too much notice; my dealer only knew when the car landed at local train depot and he gets a call from transport saying XYZ VIN is coming to you. May be some will know earlier but dont seem to be more than a couple of days at best. Mine was total surprise meaning he did not know where it was as of 48 hours ago as VV was showing still on its way to KC. I was expecting this week (actually today) so I was glad it on a schedule but he had no idea.

Besides, even if they had access to perfect information, they're not nearly as concerned about its arrival as you are.

My dealer and I are making plans to expect my car to arrive sometime later this week. As of Friday it showed in his system as being in Mexico still but we know it actually arrived in KC first week of Feb. There is another clue it may be nearby but really just a clue.

We both see something new in one of the Ford systems that says Vehicle Tracker. But it doesnt seem functional yet....or at least not for me. You need the VIN, ESN, SIM and some other information specific to that vehicle. It also says the vehicle needs to have good signal from the Sprint network. (Maybe that is why it doesnt work for me since I think our cars have SIMs for the AT&T network....)

So, why do we think the car might arrive soon? Well, that is because all 8 of the MMEs that my dealer has received so far has arrived the week before the Start ETA date in Vehicle Visibility so we are just using that trend as a guide.

Let's see what happens. ?

My dealer says the same - that the only thing he sees is that the car is still @ factory in Mexico, but Palsapp shows the transfer early-Feb.

At this point it's really anyone's guess and sadly I don't think dealers will know much either.

with mine, I looked at the Ford tracker, it said delivered to dealer.....I called them the next morning, the manager didn't know, their drop-off is not right at the dealership, he said he would check, called back, I was right.....and it did come at least 1 week early.....

Nope. I knew before my dealer that it was in Wilmington, and when I called the dealer on friday he said "probably sometime next week". He did know it had been assigned a truck for delivery but had no idea when that truck would arrive. It got delivered overnight sunday night into monday, and since the first thing I was doing when I got up was check my status (using the tracker above) I left him a voicemail monday morning while they were still closed that it was there.

Wow.... Your dealer responded to you? And seems to be in constant contact? That's amazing! Lol

Sadly they really don't. The" last mile" delivery has a time windows of days. It's usually the truck drivers honk that lets them know.

Not really caring about when your car comes in is a hold over from the old dealer mentality of - Sell what you got on the lot. What's on a truck can't be sold until it rolls off.
