Thank you @GW Shark. Much appreciated!

@Ford Motor Company Have you seen this thread? I purchased a car that was going to receive BlueCruise. I even signed something confirming my intent to buy into it. I have had OTA auto updates set since day 1. My connected services page in my Ford account says BlueCruise is coming, and specifically shows that I do not need to do anything. I received several of the BlueCruise prep OTA's earlier this year. Yet I haven't gotten final BlueCruise and the dealer cannot install it.

Are those of us with Job 1 cars just orphaned at this point? Or is there a plan? Any communication is welcome. We early adopters are OK being patient, but would appreciate an acknowledgement and some commitment to follow through on what we were told we were receiving.

While I would love a frunk button, or more available battery capacity or other newer features, I don't expect those as they were not part of the discussion when I bought the car. But BlueCruise was. Let me know if I can help get some attention on this issue.

Thank you.

Thanks for all your support and responses. The update is no longer listed as available for our vehicles, so the dealer cannot install. The only hope the Ford rep had was for a future OTA update. Perhaps if all concerned here also contacted Ford and expressed concerns, they might reactivate the program and try to push it out again. They do seem to be responsive to multiple requests (i.e. second fob).

i am in the same boat. most job1 is at 2.7.4, it does not seem to be an error that we're here as much as ford OTA for whatever reason has decided to not keep pushing further updates to us

i exchanged messages with the ford rep on this forum and called ford corporate last week. both tell me there is no solution other than to wait for OTA or go to the dealer and pay for an install (although i'm not convinced dealers know how to do this, as evidenced by OP's situation)

there is absolutely no ETA anymore, and while this seems like a wise business choice on ford's part given how many times they gave ETAs in the past with no results, it leaves us all in a ditch. i was told i can go to a dealer and ask the dealer for help, i said it's no longer free per their own doing and they said it is what it is basically

i do agree this is a completely unacceptable outcome, i don't know why they've closed off all ways for us to get BC, again completely at their choosing, without giving any notice or any resolutions. we know BC OTA works, a lot of EA folks got it... we know dealer install works, i was waiting for my annual maintenance to do it.

Same boat as you all. May 21 build, was stuck on 2.74 since early July. Got fed up and direct messaged Ford here on the forum. They got me in touch with someone from the OTA department. They told me to go to dealership to get BC installed. My car is at dealership as we speak and now I got a message on fordpass my 1 year trial is active! I was never told I would be charged. Dealership told me there was issues with OTAs on some cars concerning BC. Hopefully all is good now and no future issues with OTAs, I should have the recall done for the battery issue done as well by end of day tomorrow and pick car up.

I suggest you all try and do the same and do not pay for what Ford promised back in May

21G01 has expired. If you bought a car that is supposed to be capable of BlueCruise hands-free cruising but it's not working:

If you did not get it by OTA (cause you were waiting for the OTA fairy that never arrived) then you may have a problem getting OTAs. See your dealer service department and tell them that you don't think you are getting OTAs and you want to know why (warranty work).

You have a '21 (or a '22 for that matter) and you can't get hands-free BlueCruise to activate when you press the cruise control button on your steering wheel and you know you're on a mapped road (like the interstate). See your dealer service department and simply tell them that your BlueCruise hands-free is not functioning (warranty work) and let them sort that out.

Any service department that says there aren't any "BlueCruise" updates on the Ford server do not want you as a customer and you probably don't want their tech working on your car. There is no such thing as a "BlueCruise update" on Ford's servers; it's a collection of software updates that are all related, and as a set they enable the BlueCruise functionality. So it would be updates for the APIM, TCU, GWM, CCM, CMR, IPMA, IPC and the PSCM, and in many cases multiple updates of the same modules done in a sequence because of software dependencies. So it's not just a "BlueCruise update".

So if your BlueCruise hands-free function is not working schedule a service visit and specifically say it's not working, and if they still have problems getting it to work ask them to contact Ford Engineering Support, and it's probably a good idea to open a case with Ford at the same time to get resolution.

This should all be warranty work at this point.

Same boat! I was sent away today and told I should contact Ford Customer Care. They said I had to pay $1020.00 for updates. I love this car but honestly I am about ready to sell. This is totally unfair. Its not my fault the OTA never came. They blamed it on me for not scheduling the OTA. How can I do that when there isnt one to schedule? I was never prompted. I have mine on auto updates and no issues before. Dealership doesnt care and I get the same response that it expired. No where in that letter says if you dont receive OTA by (date) then take to dealer. So here waiting for OTA never received... Called dealer in September.. appointment in October. Now nothing. Thanks Ford! Losing all faith and we have a ton of Fords. Sad.

@Mike G - thanks for the input. While i wholeheartedly agree with your position, the problem is that the dealers do not agree. And Ford backs them up.

When I tried this approach over the last two weeks, the response from the dealer was that Ford does not cover the installation by the dealer. Options are to wait for the OTA issue to be fixed and then get it via OTA, or have the dealer install at the owner's expense. Per Ford, the dealer should quote 8-12 hours labor for the install, but I would be responsible for paying for it. Ford Customer service did give me the number for Ford Financial Assistance to try to get reimbursed. I figured that was a dead end.

In my area, the BC install comes to $1300 to $2300 using their posted labor rate range (I haven't actually asked them to quote).

If you are aware of a change in Ford's position, I would be happy to try again. But I have been down this route and got the exact same response from the dealer, Ford Customer Sevice and the Ford Escalation Specialist.

FWIW, I emailed Elena Ford and Jim Azzouz, and messaged Mike Levine on this topic. Crickets all around...

Since dealers hate doing BlueCruise updates and are always paranoid about Ford not paying their labor claims, they are going to tell you you have to pay for it yourself. If your car has BlueCruise listed as a feature at the time of sale, your dealer is obligated to fix it or install it under warranty even after the 21G01 program expired.

Nobody should be paying the dealer to do BlueCruise updates if it's not working and still in the factory warranty period. If you still want BlueCruise and the dealer isn't being helpful, find someone local on the forum to do the updates for you.

Another early job 1 customer that doesn’t have BC- but not only have I waited for the OTA that never came, but it’s been to the dealer at least 3 times to get this resolved. All I’ve gotten for this hassle is a disabled lane keeping system that said dealer’s techs keep telling me works but surprise doesn’t once I pick it up.

I've been on 2.7.4 since July and today 2.8.1 prompted to install so there is some movement on the OTA front.

whoa that's big news, paging @06VistaGT who has been gathering all the folks stuck at 2.7.4, maybe he can do a quick poll to see if anyone else is getting it?

No luck here - still at 2.7.4. My hope is that Ford (Hopefully a Ford site monitor will respond) will issue a clear statement identifying the problem (s) and steps they are going to take to correct it. Right now we appear to be "chasing our collective tails" bouncing from our respective dealer contacts to Ford simply stating it's no longer available (something over which they have total control.). The only advantage I see to not receiving updates is the new set of problems some owners are reporting. I re-state - my MME has received safety and maps updates this summer/fall, so it is capable of doing so.
