Do you guys leave lane centering on all the time? Does it affect battery?

When I got my Mme, lane centering wasn't turned on, and I didn't realize for the longest time. When I realized it wasn't on, I pieced together that the car was given to me with it turned off. I was wondering if there's a reason? Like does leaving it on kill battery or something? Or was it just a fluke? Any other buttons by the way, that I might need to press to turn on safety features (not on the touch screen console, in settings I have them all activated).

I leave mine on all the time. No, it doesn’t affect the range. Range is affected by your driving habits, outside temperature, terrain, and the use of heat or AC.

My lane centering is off. I like my own methods better. I don’t see it as a safety feature at all.

It's not a measurable impact to driving range...

Lane centering only works while cruise control is active and lane lines are detected. With cruise control off, it becomes lane departure assist or alert. Assist can ping pong you back into the lane, while alert just vibrates the wheel when you depart the lane.

That said, I don't like how the steering resistance feels while lane departure assist is active, and the suburban areas I drive through are too challenging for it -- lanes start or end or merge or whatever too often. So I only turn on the lane keeping system while I'm using cruise control on the highway. It does a great job of highway lane centering.

Sheeba and I have very different ideas about where the best place in the lane is. I've been leaving it mostly off unless I'm feeling tired or spacey. I definitely turn it off in wet or snowy weather (turn off all ADA at that point). Speed is really the number one range killer, among other things listed above.

I leave it off and only turn it on when I’m on the highway. The reason I leave it off is I like the way the instrument cluster UI looks with all the driver assists turned off, particularly in unbridled.

I leave it on. And it has no impact on battery life, despite the numerous social media posts saying it does.

I leave it off unless I’m on the highway with cruise control/BlueCruise on.

I used to have lane keep assist on all the time. Experienced that it seemed to always tug to road center when driving on the narrow rural roads where we live, so now I turn off until driving on the freeway using cruise control. Just a preference based on where we live and the roads we drive most.

It only affects my mood, when driving over 60 mile / 100 km/h it is way to agressive to my liking

My centering is on all the time. I have departure set to a warning. I get mad at myself every time I forget to use the signal. It’s happening less and less now. 🤪🐩
