Do You Want Your Mustang Mach E to Make Sound?

I happened to stumble across a YouTube video of a dodge introduction of their new electric challenger. Apparently, their market differentiator is going to be that they’ve developed a manual transmission for the car, and they’ve developed a proprietary system for it to make very loud “electric motor/combustion motor revving” sounds. You’d have to hear it. It doesn’t sound precisely like an internal combustion engine, but it definitely sounds like someone was trying to synthesize the sound of an internal combustion engine - LOUDLY! If ford offered that kind of sound effect for the Mustang Mach E, would you use it? I sure wouldn’t. It was obnoxious.

The sound the chargerlectric made was so annoyingly done in that video. I don’t mind propulsion noise, but I definitely don’t need anyone else to hear it, nor do I want a fake manual - instant torque makes up for that.

If I had an option, I would love a spaceship type propulsion sound that I could toggle on/off. Customizable volume and nothing stupid like the Dodge Disaster.

Apparently they put a speaker in a can to give it more of an echo.

When I posted about this concept car, I hadn't actually heard the sound yet. When I subsequently heard it, I was like, WTF?!? I'm very firmly on Team Quiet. I get the need for sound to alert pedestrians and cyclists, but that Dodge crap is just plain stupid, IMHO.

All that said, I still think the car looks kinda bad-ass.

The sound of that thing is dumb. If it performs like a beast, and you have the ability to turn off the noise, then it might make sense. I've always been team quiet.

No definitely not. I don't want my car to sound like an explosive wet fart which cars with big bore exhausts etc sound like.

Edit: forgot to say no thanks. I like the EV noise, little electric hum. I also enjoy turbo noises over engine drone.

Good lord. I can’t stand the obnoxious idiots thinking they’re so cool with their loud ICE cars now, let alone having to hear this new fake crap. Why do people think loud is cool and appropriate? Narcissism at its best. So no, I would never use it.

I disconnected the fake sound speaker in my MME, so I am definitely with the "quiet crowd".

I had some friends in the car the other day, and I said "do you hear that?" The sound of silence.
