Does 1430 KWh in one month seem right?

That seems very high. The “average” California home uses about 750 kWh per month with no EV.

I would say you have something funky going on. I drive quite a bit and I'm no where near that.

What app are you using to track if you don’t mind me asking?

The prior screenshots are from Chargepoint. But I also use Sense and Home Assistant.

I can even see historical/live data on the car including firmware updates

Only ever been charged at home (besides initial 100% prior to delivery), lifetime is 746.6kWh. Do you have a pre-conditioning schedule set-up? If pre-conditioning while plugged in, I believe it uses charger power. I don't pre condition so not sure how much energy it actually uses, but could be a factor if you do

Preconditioning uses very little compared to full on charging. I precondition every day and my numbers are 1/2 of his driving 2k miles a month.

The loss on L2 will be 10%, so you need to take that into account. My Chargepoint records are always 10% above the reported kWh in Ford Pass.

Tip - if 120v charging, buy a Killowatt and measure it.

Tip - Read meter. Plug in and charge. When done, read meter.
BINGO!

Yes, it almost sounds like he has departure times set for every day, twice a day - on high heat. At 3 mi/kwh 1500 kwh would take you 4000 miles (assuming 10% or so overhead).

FWIW I've been judiciously tracking my usage and solar production since I got it in July, and the most my car has used in a month has been 212 kwh. I have over 8000 miles on the odo since February, but I have also been taking advantage of the free charging weekends that EA seems to have every other month and I've used almost all my free kwh from Ford.

Nope, no departure time at all. I'll start reading the meter myself for a month and see what happens.

I compared the bill to november of last year and that's the difference.. Other than the EV, there's nothing else that would contribute to this much of a variance.
There's lots of things that can change your usage from month to month (beyond EV charging). Mine changes quite a bit, even year-over-year for the same month. More A/C... more laundry (dryer)... more oven use... more lights, TVs, space heater, power tools, etc etc.

If you've driven roughly 2400 miles from home charging at 3 mi/kWh, that's 800 kWh. Add roughly 10% for charging loss, thus 880. If your bill shows 1430 more than last year, that's about 550 unaccounted for. That is quite a bit, but not out of the question. Check some other months year-over-year and see how much variance you're seeing. Also check the # of days in the cycle. It's possible they did a late meter reading or something that made this bill cover more days.

To address a more fundamental issue - if you are driving that much per month you should check into BEV programs, time-of-use metering, and solar in your area. Where I live in NJ the electric company has zilch for BEV programs and their TOU program is ludicrous. However, the solar incentives in NJ are fantastic - I am paying about half per kilowatt with solar + incentives than if I stayed using the utility's dino-juice electrons.

In other parts of the country the utilities have really good offpeak BEV rates but no solar incentives. So, it pays to do the research.

1430kWh @ 3mile per would be 4290 miles. Something is not accurate.
(I average 3.7mi/kWh)

looked at my chargepoint app. We typically charge to 80 percent. My app shows

Nov: 743kWh and an estimated 1984 miles.
Oct (purchase mo)- 364kWh estimated 973 miles.

ironically the ODO on the car only shows 2402 miles, so the estimated miles is slightly off (2957), but I dont think Charge point showed a GTPE in their settings. If you math it out Im getting like 2.169 mi/kwh which seems pretty legit during these colder months.

The other months don't have a large variance compared to last year. They're all within 100.

Haven't looked into solar, but I am on a TOU plan that's rather decent.

Actual reading.
