Does anyone have pictures of their skis and equipment inside their MME? Any tricks?

I'm trying to decide whether I want a roof ski rack, or just put my 185cm skis in the middle, with their tails (I suppose) intruding onto the console between the front seats. I suppose I'd want a blanket or some other device (constructed out of 2L pop bottles?) to protect the car's interior from melting snow.

Does anyone have any pictures of skis inside their MME? Any tricks to make them fit better? Any recommendations for products to use to protect the car? Do your ski boots fit in the frunk, or do you just put your helmets there?

I can try it myself next week after I have my car, but some advance warning of whether it will work out might be nice, and ideas for how to best make it work.

If we can get away with putting our skis inside the car when there's just the two of us, then we could take the money we'd have spent on a ski roof rack and invest it in a more general-purpose cargo solution for trips with 4 or 5 people. (Like fixing up the old 4-Runner, or purchasing a cargo roof box.)

While I don’t have any pictures, I ski a lot with my Mach E. Boots always go in the frunk after a day of skiing since the water can drip out without getting the car all wet. Before, I like to keep them in the main cabin so they are warm. It honestly depends on how many skis I’m carrying. If only one, I’ll fold down the right seat and move the passenger seat forward, if two either on the diagonal with the right seat down, or with the 60 part of the 60/40 split folded down and skis through the middle console. I use towels to protect the car and soak up any excess water.
I’m planning to purchase a cargo box for the North Shore mountains - short trips (I have Thule rails) but I worry about the range impact on longer trips, especially in the cold which is why I try to keep the skis inside as much as possible.
