Does anyone plan to use AM radio in their Mach-E?

Just curious. Such a pain to implement in electric vehicles.

Nope. I’m curious though, why is it a design challenge specific to EVs? Too much EMI generated by the drivetrain?

Yes. Sports, news, talk.

Seems like almost a sin to listen to tinny AM when you have a nice sound system, but I don't want to listen to music all the time.

Yes, sometimes I like to listen to talk radio you can only find on AM stations. Granted, most of the time I listen to them on Apps through my phone, sometimes I need the radio for them.

Very rarely, almost always using iPhone to listen to podcasts, but will listen to the occasional game live on Satellite radio.

You guys that do listen to AM could probably find a free app to stream the stations you listen to in much higher fidelity than the AM radio (and you could listen across the country as well).

Yes but more like 1% for sports and public information channels like those set up in parks. However, these days I'm more likely to livestream sports using cell service so even this will go down.

Often. But that's not as quick and easy as just turning on the radio. Plus it requires a data connection, which isn't always consistent and dependable.

I do that on my cell phone occasionally when working in the yard or going for a walk. And even that sometimes has connectivity and dependable stream issues.

Plus many sporting events are blocked from steaming due to licensing.

Yes, for local news, especially during the hurricane season still in effect today . After Hurricane Maria in 2017, only two AM stations kept operating for months. The strong (Category 5) winds blew down almost every antenna. We had no power, phone, TV, cable, satellite, internet, or FM radio for over a month. Cellphone service was extremely limited.

We lived on nightly AM radio during that month. It is old but vital, just as SW and Ham radio is. AM radio will never disappear!

Hard to believe am is still a thing. Most people under the age of 20 probably don't even know what it is.
