Hoping someone has a magic fix but couldn't find anything in search. My drivers door is stuck open. The kicker is extended and will not go back in. Other doors work fine, and the car will start. I just can't close the drivers door. I'm going to let it sit for a while and try again later. Otherwise I'm really curious how the dealer will handle this one.

Try applying gentle but firm pressure to the door to see if you can get it to close yourself. If that works, see if the problem is solved. It may have been a one-off issue.

However, if your Mach E has a door extension for more than 6 hours, call your dealer ;)

I saw on the munro video, they were able to make it stick out like that and retract by messing with the latch. about the 3:50 mark.

Maybe you could mate your car and the one that has a door that won't open.

In my case, the dealer "re-initialized the door control module" to fix the issue, and it hasn't happened again. Sounds kinda like a reboot. If you're daring enough to get to the 12v battery, you can try disconnecting it to see if that will force a re-initialization.

Thanks all. I have learned two things apparently today... I thought the car was a girl, maybe not and don't let it get ahold of Viagra.

At any rate, the service manager and their tech came out to my house. They were able to get it closed by playing with the door latch with a screwdriver. He said it took several tries for it to close. Kudos to them for figuring it out. They took the car back with them. He believe the mechanism is bad but maybe it will be something as easy as a module. Apparently a Ford engineer is involved already.

That's great service. I had to tie my door shut to drive it to the dealer.

That image reminded me of my Dad's 1959 Ford Taunus wagon (made in Germany) with a driver's door that can swing open in a right turn. It was fixed later.

But we both panicked when it opened, when no one wore seat belts.

yeah in that video from Munro Live they mess with it over and over, moving the door / pushing the button in-between.

I wonder what causes it to get in that state.

.....remember when cars just worked?
Because timing/serpentine belts/chains never screwed up or broke
Because starters/alternators/water pumps/thermostats never just failed
Because head gaskets never lost their seal
Because carburetors always work exactly as intended
Because doors never randomly opened during turns (as above)
No, I don't remember when cars "just worked" I remember when they had different issues.

There was a main corner in my hometown with 2 gas stations, back when gas stations fixed cars.

I remember poking my head in the door and ALWAYS seeing cars missing engines, engines missing heads, transmissions piled up waiting for a trip to the dump.....

....but they worked.

Uh-huh.
