Must been some EV hating person. There is a keyed line going across the drivers door. I’ve been looking at you tube videos about a fix but thought I’d reach out to see if anyone has advice on what I should do - bodyshop or diy?

To help prevent this, I got the Ford Mach-E car cover (fits all, including the GTPE).

DYI will never be perfect. If you are someone that can only focus on the one tinny little scratch on your cellphone display, then a DYI might not be the best route for the MME. While you can defiently do it, they are very seldomly perfect and you can tell its been touched up.

A shop will put your car back to looking like the day you bought it.

Use a shop. I believe it’s a comprehensive claim so maybe a lower deductible.

Happened while I was out and about, so a cover wouldn’t have helped unfortunately

Sorry this happened to you, I fear it's going to become a trend again. I remember a lot of Tesla owners were putting plate frames on their cars reminding fools that the Tesla is an American car. But to go after a Mustang..? We are reaching new lows.

Park as far away from business entrances as possible. Most people wont make the effort to walk out to a distant space just to key a car. But they might key a car if they happen to be walking right by it.

Is it a clearcoat scratch or went through the paint?
Some parts seem deeper than the others, it may have gotten to the paint

if you wipe it with isopropyl alcohol or water, does it disappear?

its been raining... so with water it's still there. i don't think alcohol will work either, you can feel the scratch with the fingernail.

My 2 cents, don't get the door redone first...report to insurance so that you fulfill criteria for timely reporting. Then buy some touch up paint from the dealership and follow these steps:

- wet sand area with 3000 grit
- clean with alcohol
- fill scratch with touch up paint using toothpick or fine paint brush, wipe excess with a razor blade
- do this 2-3 times and sand excess away using 3000 grit
- When sanding, apply ZERO pressure and don't sand too far away from the spot, don't increase your work
- apply clear coat that came with touch up paint
- sand this down too
- apply polish using drill foam applicators (very inexpensive on amazon)

If unhappy with these results, call insurance and book appt.
