Does anyone know of a reason EA would build out a station and then never activate it?

There is an EA coming soon near my house, and I wouldn’t need to use it that often, but would be a nice option to have.

I don’t exactly know when they broke ground on this one, but it was about a year ago. I don’t know what it’s missing, but it’s not actively being worked on either.

Has anyone seen something similar elsewhere?

Considering how long it takes EA to get parts to repair the stations they already have, its no surprise to me how long it takes to make new stations. There's been a bunch by me that have been "coming soon" for almost a year now.

One thing to keep in mind too- an EA rep told me that ALL of their chargers and parts come from China as needed- supposedly they don't really keep much stock of parts on hand. At least that was the reason the rep gave me when I asked why 2/4 stations at a location were still down after 3 months.

The first EA station in Vermont is supposed to be installed near me. It has been listed as coming soon for over 2 years. They still haven’t broken ground.

There’s one in Dearborn, MI (Ford’s HQ ironically) that’s been “coming soon” for well over a year now. Probably closer to 2.

Funny, I’ve been wondering about this same station for a while (hello neighbor!). I went over there today and took some pictures to update the Plugshare info. The place sure seems complete, just not activated. Sounds like we are not alone on waiting forever on EA. Needed upgrades beyond the property line seems plausible, but this is a pretty central location, so not sure what those would be or why the year-long wait

Probably missing chips. It’s not just the car manufacturers having chip issues. It is across the board. Any manufacturer that uses any kind of electronics is having difficulty getting chips.

This station came online in the past few weeks. Don't have the exact construction dates, but it was roughly ~15 months from breaking ground until station was powered on. The cabinets sat there for at least a year, but maybe there was a delay getting connected to the utility company.

I charged there yesterday and it was set to "Free Mode" by EA. I think they perhaps do that for new stations in the first couple of weeks they are open?
