Bummer. The Mach E was so much cheaper to charge in those states charging by the minute. I used to focus my charging on SC and GA to save money.

I prefer the consistency of paying the same every time. Per minute really sucks when you can only get 43kw at all the chargers. 😒

BOO!

Actually, at that rate, they're pretty close to the same.

Got 8 (and counting) e-mails from EA about this. 😂

EA likes to say that they charge by the kWh in Vermont. But I’m still trying to figure out how they do that when there are zero EA stations in the state.
Probably just means there isn't a law forcing them to charge per minute in that state.

Actually, VT has one coming soon!

Yeah, it’s been coming soon for 2 years now. Still no sign of construction.

I have no emails from them on this.

An example of why this is bad. I recently charged to 95% in O_io, a per kWh state. This would include 44kW charging from 80 to 90, and 34kW charging from 90 to 95. I was charged $19.84 pre-tax for 50:17 minutes, receiving 64kWh.

If I paid by the minute, at the $0.24 minute rate, I would have been charged $12.07, or 39.2% less.

By the way, 64/50.3 = 1.27kW per minute. If I had only charged to 80%, I would have gotten closer to 1.6 or 1.7 per minute.

Per minute charging on EA is ALWAYS cheaper, unless the charger is malfunctioning, in which case you should ask for a credit. I have one pending now for 3 weeks.

True (I enjoyed my recent cheap charging in KY, TN, and PA). Although I also understand that EA has to start making actual money if they're really going to expand the network. I'll be happy to pay per kWh (even at rates higher than $0.31/kWh) if it means faster expansion of their network.
