I got an email from the folks at EA that their home charger is now available. $649 with a 3 year warranty. 40 Amps and free shipping for a while.

What distinguishes this EVSE from the others?
From what I can tell, the only advantage of it is that it integrates into the EA app. Other than that its pretty much a generic EVSE.

Hah, yeah. I went back and forth deciding to wait for a ChargePoint Home Flex on backorder or to wait for this to be released, and I realized it mostly came down to the apps behind them. ChargePoint has a 4.6 rating in the App Store, and EA has a 2.2, so my thinking was if the app is mostly the discriminator, I'm going with the 4.6.

IMHO, ChargePoint's box is better looking, and I particularly like that the supply cord holster is integrated into the unit instead of a separate hook I'm mounting elsewhere.

When I got my MME, I looked into the EA EVSE. It wasn't out yet, but found that it was only 40amp and that was the main reason I went with the ChargePoint.

If I was going to buy that equipment, I wanted to buy something that at least maxed out my cars charging.

This one seems to have the protocol ready for vehicle to grid. Probably to support the feature from ID4 that is planed to be released soon. I’m not sure the MME will have that.

I have a ChargePoint Home Flex. It was back ordered and I got it within 2 weeks.

The charger itself can do up to 50a, but I just asked the sparkie for a 60a breaker so I get a max of 48a.

What I can say is that I get 11.28kW per hour. Or about 240v at 47a. Give or take recharging at about 34.986 miles per hour (at my avg 3.1 miles per kw).

The app is great. It even detects the local utility companies and let's you pick yours to give you an estimate of your charge. I love that as my electric company has 0-600 601-1000 and 1001+ kw rates. It estimates it at the highest (it assumes the battery recharge is always 1000+). The app is also accessible on the website.

Only issue is that it's got a bug where it can't be linked to Alexa at the moment. Not the worst thing as both the FordPass app can control charging times, as well as the chargepoint app.

My Chargepoint Home Flex is linked with Alexa, I can start or stop charging, find out if I'm plugged in, check charging status, and check my Chargepoint account balance (public charging). I don't remember what I had to do to get it setup. The other day I was talking about charging my car and Alexa asked if I wanted to start charging it. She's so helpful

There's a bug where if you try to link it, it takes you to the chargepoint log in, but then logs you in without connecting your accts
