I use my EA Pass+ membership out of the Apple Wallet. Double click the phone side button, Face ID, select the EA "card" from the wallet and then tap to the dispenser.

I do the same thing for ChargePoint too (select the ChargePoint 'card').
Ah, so actually make your EA account the payment method (rather than a credit card) for the Apple Wallet? Interesting.

Do you have to do that each time? Or are you actually changing the default payment method? And if the latter, what's that do if you try to use that wallet somewhere else?

Yes, add the EA membership account to your wallet. That adds a 'card' that you can select.

Yes, you have to select the appropriate 'card' each time if you don't want to use your default card. You are not changing the default card by doing this.

It's super easy. Select the EA card before tapping and it will use your EA membership and payment method you have setup with EA. (Assuming the NFC reader is actually working.)

I have no "wallets". EA has my credit card. When I used EA (have been using Ford Plug and Charge for over a year exclusively), I activated the charger from the app. I found that tapping didn't work as it was looking for Google Wallet.

My phone tap always worked well direct with the EA app. I don't think I have Google Pay or Samsung wallet set up. It appears the EA app has to be running (foreground or background) and logged into my EA account (it usually just stays logged in). NFC also has to be turned on. Just to make sure it all worked OK, I got in the habit of opening my phone and clicking the EA app before getting out of the car (where I could see the phone out of the sun). Then just plugged in (with P&C off) and tapped the phone. Was very dependable for me. (Exact same process I use for activating a ChargePoint unit with phone tap too.)

But I don't know if it would create a priority conflict if I had Google Pay or Samsung Pay active on my phone at the same time. I would hope it would grab the EA app first, but maybe not?

Like you, I use P&C all the time at EA now, since I'm one of the fortunate ones to still have the Ford EA discount since June 2022. P&C is so nice, and bypasses all these activation issues that are the cause of many DCFC frustrations for people.

Note that each card you add will be charged a processing fee... I added 1 card, then realized another card gave EV charging cashback and didn't notice until too late that each card added was like $4 "processing fee" ...
What company are you talking about? ID this$4 per card charge for Ford, EA, who?

When using Plug & Charge with Blue Oval at an Electrify America station, am I supposed to be charged the full price rate or the EA Pass+ rate (25% discount)? When I called EA a month or so ago, I was told I'd get the discounted Pass+ rate when charging via Blue Oval. But I tried it for the first time today and got charged the full price rate. I called EA back and this time they said I'd have to pay the full price rate. I didn't feel like calling back a 3rd time to break the tie.
To avoid any surprises now and in the future, initiate charging thru EA app and plug when prompted by EA. It might have worked sometime ago but now the EA app is your safer choice of getting the discount. If you don't pay the Pass+ membership fee, plug the vehicle and make sure the charging commences. FordPass will take care the rest.

I use the Pass+ on an Android phone. Turn off P&C before your trip, plug-in, and then either tap your phone or start via the app when prompted. The tap for the phone for members is usually not the same place you tap for NFC payment.

I've gotten 1-2 complimentary charges from EA on each of my last three trips. As soon as I plugged in charging started and a pop-up advised I was getting a complimentary session. If you start via the app or use P&C you might lose out on that random free charge session!

I just went through this yesterday with EA. If you want to use your pass+ discounted rate, you must use the app and not the Blue Oval network. Here is what I learned, open the EA app and pick your charger, where it says plug in then swipe right to initiate, swipe right first then plug in your charger.

Otherwise if you plug in first, the blue oval network kicks in first then you can't use the app. I'm hoping they make this work better in an update....

Yes, if you have Plug&Charge turned on in FordPass, it will grab the session first when you plug in. That means your Ford account paying for the session (thus no EA Pass+ discount).

To get the EA app to activate the session instead (and get the Pass+ discount), you either need to do what you described (start the session in the EA app before plugging in), or simply turn P&C off in FordPass. That's a bit more dependable since if there's any glitch in getting the EA app to activate right, P&C would then grab the session instead.

Since EA is still the only network (so far) that has P&C capability with FordPass, it's usually easier just to turn P&C off and leave it off if you want to use EA Pass+ everytime you EA charge.

I had the same issue. EA said for me to use their app. Swipe to charge on the station i want to use then plug in. I’m getting my discounts now!

This is a great way to do it. It typically takes way less time to authenticate vs other ways. Thanks for sharing. I’ve had it downloaded for a while but have never used it.

Just some thoughts!
I have changed my credit card in the EA app and not been charged anything.
