Any experienced Ford owners have a description for the speaker quality in a "Select" trim Ford or equivalent? I tested a "LT" Chevy Bolt and the sound quality was kind of bland and nasty. My Mazda Bose system is more than good enough for me, as is the standard Tesla Model 3 audio.
So does Ford have decent stock audio lately?

Decent is relative. If you are like me who listens to AM talk radio on my commute, anything that makes a sound is good enough. If you are a music fanatic and want the car next to you to feel the bass, B&O is a worthwhile upgrade.

It's hard to pick a trim level when I've never been in a modern Ford. I'm begging for more data points. To clarify my question, does a base model Escape or Mustang or other Ford play music with a little sparkle and thump like lowest trim Tesla? Better than a standard trim Chevy? What other cars would you compare the frequency response in your last Ford to?

Stock 2000 Nissan Frontier? very bad
2014 Accord Hybrid? very good
2019 Model 3? very good
Mazda CX-5 Touring? very good
2020 Chevy Bolt LT? pretty bad

Seems to me you should just take a trip to your local Ford dealer and sit in a few with the music playing. No one could asses what you are looking for better than your own ears.

If the dealer you picked for the Mach-E is local they should be pretty accomidating to you.

Indeed, it's kind of difficult though at the moment. Here in FL everything is roasting hot and I'm extra inconvenienced by my car being wrecked.
Is your Bolt a Premier or LT and how do you like music in that compared to your Focus speakers?

My Bolt Premiere has petty good music sound. On a scale from 1-10 (1= worst car audio I have experienced; 10= best car audio I have experienced) I would put the Bolt Premiere at a 7. The Bolt LT I would put at a 5.

My Bolt is a lowly LT and I don't find the audio that bad but its all relative: I rarely listen to music--mostly podcasts. For that it is more than effective.

When my son is riding around with us he usually plays music from his phone on it. We've never heard any distortion or anything. Of course there really isn't a subwoofer on the LT so if you're looking for some strong bass look elsewhere.

This is a valid question for the Select Mach E future owners, although most seem to be ordering the premium. From what I can gather, the system will be identical to the one in the 2020 Ford Escape. The S has the six speaker Sony, and the upper models have the Bose 10 speaker. Perhaps someone on here has the base 2020 Escape?

Great info! I changed the thread title to hopefully catch an Escort (edit: sorry, ESCAPE) owner.
