Looks like Tampa is lucking out again
Yep its hurricane Charley the sequel. Threatened Tampa until shifting two days before landfall. Ian is on a near identical path now; looks like Punta Gorda will get hammered again.

Sure does! Tampa hasn’t taken a direct hit in over 100 years!! We have had 4 since 2004!!!!

So far my tentative plan for the huge battery with wheels in our garage in the event of prolonged power outage is to use it to keep our devices charged and possibly sleep in it with low ac use if it gets too hot in the house. The advantage of not having to open the garage is being able to sleep in it.
So smart! I never thought about that. I live in NC. Plenty of hurricane experience here. We have never evacuated. Normally, we lose power and roads are flooded all around us so we can’t leave home. Full tanks of gas and nowhere to go.

This is my experience as well. There is nowhere to go, and no power, and worse yet, no Internet!!!

I have a generator that is big enough to run enough things so we don't have to sleep in the car, but having that giant battery in the garage is comforting. My generator runs on propane, but if I use all the propane, and can't find any, my MME is the backup to my backup.

A fully charged Mach E would run your household essentials for several days. I have an energy monitor on every breaker so I know exactly what each circuit consumes. We could get by using 7-8kWh a day.

The heavy rain is still south of us but expected to get a lot more overnight. Rain bands with imbedded tornadoes are passing through Broward county now!
We actually had 2 tornado warnings last night. I guess there was one brief touchdown nearby. We all hid in the closet for about 10 minutes! There’s another one right now but a little north of us - right where we drove through yesterday!

Yeah, I heard last night that he was moving from Clearwater down there! Lol
I just saw a post that all the Waffle Houses from Tampa to Orlando are closed.

Would be nice if there was an official way to do that

We may be sleeping in the car tonight? The Storm will probably pass over us around 2am but I expect we will lose power before then?

Multiple counties in SW Florida already have over 10,000 home each without power. That was from winds in the 35-45mph range.

Yeah, quite possible, really crazy my area is now outside of the cone, Tampa is gonna get even more complacent with the next storms
