Does not surprise me at all since we had thieves take all the electrical and data wiring from my work's underground pipes.

Pretty pathetic. I have a cousin in South Africa whose business provides internet wirelessly across long distances for other companies because people so often steal cables from the ground for the scrap value - they have no choice but to implement wireless solutions.

Seems like this will also be a problem in the United States until wireless charging of vehicles becomes a thing.

I was thinking this would be a good way to get a light shower... The cables are often liquid cooled now.

So maybe part of the solution here is to add a strong dye to the liquid, so the thieves paint themselves while cutting the cables. Similar to bank bags. At least that's how it works in the movies, anyway.

Public charger cables should have a tamper wire inside that immediately trips an alarm if cut. Calls the police. Otherwise this is going to turn into a catalytic converter fiasco for electric cars.

Should be retractable cable that only releases when credit card or other wireless payment is made. After the charge, retracts back in.
