I bought my 2022 Select eAWD in May from Tracy Ford in California. In my contract, I purchased an extended warranty for 5 years / 100,000 miles.

According to my contract, the warranties are called “First Extended Warranty” and “Platinum Protection Plan”. Looking at it now, it’s strange they are listed as companies.

When I check the FordPass app, it shows I have no extended warranties associated with my vehicle.

I’ve had no issues with my car so far, but I want to make sure the premium I paid for these warranties will apply when I take my car to a Ford Service center in the future.

Am I not understanding how the warranty works? Should I be able to take it to any Ford Service center and be covered by the warranties? That was my understanding when I bought the vehicle. Also, any reason why it wouldn’t show in FordPass?

Appreciate any help or insight!

I just checked my FordPass app and it shows my extended warranty and service plans. I suggest you call your dealership and ask them exactly what you have. It's theoretically possible they've not yet registered your warranties with Ford, but I would guess more likely that what they sold you aren't Ford plans. Best of luck!

Yeah, the terms and the naming of that seem strange. Might not actually be Ford plans. I have Premium Care 72/75000 bumper to bumper. They also show up on my FordPass app. When did you purchase?

It looks like they sold you a third party extended warranty, meaning a warranty from an outside company and not through Ford. If that is the case, it will not show up on your Ford Pass account.

I purchased an extended warranty as well, but wanted it through Ford. With a Ford plan any Ford dealer can work on the car and if expensive parts are needed the Ford plan will still use factory new parts vs looking for aftermarket or even used parts like some third party warranty companies will do.

I don’t know if you have seen the threads here about Granger Ford, but that is who I went through and I was very satisfied with the service and pricing they offered for the Ford backed policy. Being a Ford dealer they also allowed me to use my Ford Pass points towards the policy, which lowered the cost even more. Two days after purchasing the policy online with Granger it showed up on my Ford Pass account. It might be worth checking them out and seeing if it makes sense to switch.

Sounds like you were sold a non Ford extended warranty by the dealer. When I bought my Mach E they tried to sell me both a non-Ford and Ford Extended warranty at exorbitant pricing. Bought my Ford Extended warranty instead from Lombard Ford at a great price. Did this all over the Internet and phone. They even allowed me to pay it off in 12 months with no interest with a financing company (there was a small initial charge if I remember correctly). I got the Ford Premium Plan with light (LED) bulb coverage. Our headlights are outrageously expensive to replace if that would ever happen (as I assume many LED lights would be). I didn't take remote (FOB) coverage replacement or rental coverage as we have 2 cars (also my car insurance covers rental should I ever need it in certain situations). Good luck with your warranty and I hope it all works out.

One thing to keep in mind with these extended is that they (in general) don't cover any of the EV powertrain components. Those are covered by the Ford factory 8 year, 100k mile warranty.

So your extended warranty just covers the non-powertrain parts of the vehicle and may have further limitations as well. Make sure you check the fine print.

I haven't seen an extended warranty for an EV yet that made sense to me since they don't cover any of the expensive bits.

This is a very good point. I too added the lighting coverage, which most third party warranties do not cover. In the case of the MME headlights, that can be close to a $2,000 cost to replace just one headlight.

The way I look at it is this car has a ton of control units and single unit parts like the radio/infotainment unit that will be very expensive to replace. With the Ford coverage these items would be covered and like the example I mentioned above, with the lighting coverage even a burned out LED headlight would be covered under the policy.

This is a very good point. I too added the lighting coverage, which most third party warranties do not cover. In the case of the MME headlights, that can be close to a $2,000 cost to replace just one headlight.
Exactly why I added it also. When I found out about the cost to replace one it was a no brainer to add that coverage and I don’t think it cost very much extra.

Unfortunately, this is a great example (well, not for you) of the reality that people don't read things before they sign them. You bought a 3rd party warranty. It MAY be accepted at many/any dealership, it may not. It MAY have been a competitive price to a Ford extended warranty, it may not have. Likely it was much more expensive than a Ford extended warranty purchased through one of several online dealerships.

The good news, if any, is that you MAY be able to cancel depending on the terms of the contract. I suggest you sit down and read it.

My windows sticker says 8year/100k mile is HV BATT/COMPON. Not exactly sure what it is. Battery component?

My understanding is the 3year/36000mile bumper to bumper is included in MSRP.
You can buy the extended warranty within this window?

Yes, the 3 year/36,000 mile B to B warranty is included with the MSRP as is the 8 year battery warranty.

My understanding is that you can purchase the Extended Warranty anytime during the three year/36,000 mile period. Not sure but they may make you undergo an inspection of your car before they sell you the warranty if you buy it later.
