Factory Vinyl Wraps service launching for 2024 Mach-E

According to this article, starting sometime in early 2024, Ford will offer the option of a vinyl wrap on your MME (among other models) at time of purchase. "60 colors and three finishes (gloss, matte or satin)"

I’ll be interested to see the price and the workmanship available. As someone who immediately wrapped my Dark Matter Grey GT-PE into a more lively color, this may have been interesting to me at the time.

I agree. Though I would have only gotten clear PPF on the front of my car if I had realized how soft tri-coat paint can be.

Looks like this is a brand new program in the works. Its a good idea! I have seen a few cars recently that had either matte wraps or matte paint, and it looks pretty unique and cool if it's done well! A buddy showed up to a party recently with a BMW EV (not sure what model it was) with a matte finish in dark grey, and it looked really great!

It will be interesting to see the color options they offer. Some of the fun of full wraps is getting iridescent colors that you would be very difficult to get from paint.

With 60 colors offered, it seems like some of the color shifts must be in there. Another concern is what film they’ll be offering. Better not be some cheap 🫏 tinybot .

Hmm, aftermarket vs incompetent dealers! I mean I didn’t trust my dealer to wash the car let alone bring a box cutter within mm of it.

They are doing it at the factory it sounds like, I'm sure they've got a way more automatic or robotic process they came up with.

This also seems like a way Ford can do the Tesla model of producing mostly white cars, but then have an upsell to 60 colors, honestly seems like a great idea.

It's interesting that this article has a picture of a Mach E when the announcement text from Ford only says Mustang, indicating this may not be an option for the Mach E. It's also only available in certain states.

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 31, 2023 – Ford Performance Parts is showing custom concept packages at this year’s SEMA Show that will be available to customers starting in 2024. This first taste of what’s to come will show how owners can turn their Ford vehicle into a rolling showcase that reflects their personal taste, attitude, and love of their vehicle.
"Ford customers love to personalize the performance and appearance of their vehicles, especially Mustang, Bronco and Ranger," said Mark Wilson, Ford North America Vehicle Personalization manager. "The Ford Performance parts packages we're debuting combine the latest design trends with aftermarket accessories engineered to work with these vehicles out of the box."
Developed in response to customer feedback, these packages will be available via the Ford Performance Parts website or through a dealer accessory counter. Pricing for each package will be available nearer each package’s on-sale date, while either a Ford dealer or ASE-certified shop can perform the installation.
The packages fall into four categories: Off-road capability, street performance, aesthetic parts, and unique vehicle graphics.

New Custom Vinyl Wraps Available for F-150, Mustang, Bronco, and Explorer 

Ford has offered vehicle wraps and graphics for more than a decade, but now it’s going even further with custom vinyl wraps in 60 colors and three different finishes (gloss, satin, and matte) through Ford Vinyl Wraps. Customers owning select vehicles will be able to select their car, truck, or SUV online in early 2024 and preview the available wrap colors to see what it will look like.
Ford engineering teams have selected high-quality vinyl wraps and developed special installation techniques to ensure sensors and driver assist systems work as designed. An independent network of professional wrap installers will coordinate the work and make sure the job is done as quickly as possible, usually under two weeks from order to completion with the car only out for customization for a few days. The program will roll out in Michigan, Florida, Texas and California and rapidly expand nationwide. It will be available for certain newer model year F-150, Mustang, Bronco, and Explorer vehicles.

Look, I don’t know, but they referenced certain markets first then rolling off to others. They would have offered it nationwide if factory installed.
