More dcfc chargers are needed in the UP of Michigan and state of Wisconsin. Green Bay has zero ccs dcfc chargers!I'm surprised at how fast the DC chargers have popped up. Big difference between last summer and now.
Now on the PlugShare map it looks like the area has a bad case of acne. Combined with the J1772 and Tesla destination chargers looks like there is "good enough" coverage.
What are you talking about? That Meijer was super easy to get in and out of, back in late March and most of April!Actually, it's FU**ING AWFUL. Literally they couldn't have picked a worse location. It's "the Hill" and it's a traffic MESS, especially during the holidays. If you wanted to "top off" right now, it would take you probably 20 min just to get up there, and another 20 to get down, and that's not even considering that the spots will probably be taken by ICE vehicles. Even worse on the weekends closer to the holidays.
"The Hill" is a bit annoying based on its traffic design. It's a lot of shopping with only two ways to get in or out and neither of those two ways was designed particularly well (most shopping centers of comparable size have multiple ways in and out ... each one of which is better than "The Hill" (the official name is not "The Hill" ... that's just what all us locals call it). What are you talking about? Very interresting. Norway is my home town. It has always been a little socialist enclave in the U.P. that has had its own cable tv company, phone company, electric utillity, etc, so I am not surprised. The first DCFC in the UP of Michigan has been activated today. Norway has turned on their DCFC 62.5kW Chargepoint 250 Express charger today. Bad news: $2.20 connection fee! Good news: 34 cents peak and 24 cents per kWh off-peak charging rate. Claimed cost for one charger is $77,000.00. see: City of Norway gets fastest electric vehicle charge in Upper Michigan (uppermichiganssource.com)
Northern Wisconsin is a graveyard for DCFC. Wausau, Green Bay(!), Superior, Ashland, Hayward, Hurley, Minocqua, Eagle River among others are all candidates for such chargers. Yet the state elected officials on both sides can't get their act together for any progress. Don't want to move into an EV until the charging network exists in adequate form. Remember, the cold winter months can reduce range 40%.Very interresting. Norway is my home town. My problem is that Norway is usally my final destination, and I need chargers that can get me there! Once there, I can plug in at my mother's or brother's house.
Coming from Minnesota, I need a charger in Wausa to bring the gap from Eau Claire to Norway. Here's hoping there will be one operational this fall when I get my GT.
I work in Dearborn normally, and I avoid that area like the plague, unless I'm really, really desperate. Haggerty and Eight Mile is another must-avoid, and Novi Rd. near I-96, and Telegraph and 12 Mile, and pretty much any place that has those huge retail clusters. I still don't know why Amazon hasn't killed them off yet."The Hill" is a bit annoying based on its traffic design.
And, in cold weather, that may not even be too close for comfort.I have a GT reserved so I will get the large battery, but the larger tires & rims and big motor up front mean I get 250 miles of estimated range. Its about 230 miles from Eau Clarie to Norway. That is too close for comfort!
