First EV and Found on-lot!

I originally placed an order for a 2022 Mach-E Select in Grabber Blue with comfort/tech package. Heard about the Active Park Assist+ prep kit situation and then learned the foot-activated liftgate was removed from 2022s so started looking around for 2021s (also didn't want to wait). The few on-lot Mach-Es I found were going for $5-10K over MSRP, but I luckily came across a 2021 Rapid Red with all the options I wanted for only $1K over. Still don't love paying over MSRP but worth it!

It had ~500 miles on it from test drives. Dealer apparently had it for almost 6 months and had priced it $10K over originally, but still surprised it hadn't sold given the demand. Also, I had never considered red before, but I actually love it!

Next step is getting an EVSE installed. Got a detached garage so it's a bit more complicated. Latest company has me considering solar panels too.

BEVs and solar panels make a great combination, but you have to be careful - there are a lot of bad deals out there. I highly recommend AGAINST a power purchase agreement. Buy the panels and finance them if you need to, but you want to own the panels.

Yup, waiting on the analysis/quote but plan on financing for the federal tax credit and 26% credit from SREC.

I'll echo @timbop's comments above. After I acquired my Tesla Model 3 in 2020, I installed rooftop solar on my detached garage. Two years later, I installed two Tesla Powerwall batteries (thanks to a 1.5 year wait after ordering them).

The tax credits for installing solar systems and battery backups are terrific. My state also has low-cost, zero-down financing on home improvements for energy efficiency. Each state is different, so YMMV.

My solar system and battery backup work very well with my EVs. The system allows me to rely on the solar array and Tesla Powerwalls for power during peak electric rates, and draw from the grid only during off-peak hours.
