To virtually nobody's surprise......my car received an OTA notification today. Just shy of 38k miles so this would seem to indicate that Ford intends on sending updates to vehicles even when the warranty expires. This should please many.

I have Auto OTA turned off so perhaps the process is a little different than what most people are used to.
The last OTA was 2.3.0 and this OTA appears to be the same with a few more "enhancements" (according to the release notes). That's cool. 2.3.0 was painless so here is hoping 2.6.0 is the same.

Noticed this while driving....
Ford Mustang Mach-E First OTA after 36k Bumper-to-Bumper warranty expired 1652739647090

I checked the details when I parked. All looked okay so I hit "Accept".
Ford Mustang Mach-E First OTA after 36k Bumper-to-Bumper warranty expired 1652739735908

Update Now was greyed out, but I pressed it anyway and it produced this message.

Ford Mustang Mach-E First OTA after 36k Bumper-to-Bumper warranty expired 1652739812898

I parked the car for a 10-15 minute and when I returned....

Ford Mustang Mach-E First OTA after 36k Bumper-to-Bumper warranty expired 1652739890639

If this was one of those updates that immobilizes my car for a period of time then I presume I would just wait for a time that was convenient for me and then hit Update Now. If so, then that is a pretty reasonable method of doing these things IMO...

That‘s what we’ve been trying to tell you. ;)
And you guys were right. :)
I think the e-mail I received from Ford a couple of weeks ago said something about trying to get BC out before September to early vehicles like ours. I presume this latest update sets the car up for those series of updates. If so, then they have 3 months to figure out how to give me 1 year of free stuff. 👍 :p

Wait, haven't you been saying how you weren't going to get any updates or any help with the open items from your service visit since you hit 36k?

I wondered about OTAs.....wasn't sure what was going to happen. Most everyone assumed they would continue but I wasn't so sure. Looks like we now have our answer. I received updates on my Focus Electric way past it's base warranty but have learned not to base my MME expectations on the FFE. Been burned by that a few times already so now we are blazing new ground again.

Haven't heard a peep from my service advisor about the 21G01 issue. My guess is they submitted it to Ford as completed so they can be paid. I don't know that for a fact though, since I let my PTS subscription expire since I won't be needing it any longer. 🤔

That is a shame. They worked on it for 2 days. They should be paid for their time IMO...
Is there a way you can help them get paid? I will sign whatever if it helps. Just not taking my car back there unless it needs service for something serious.

What is the purpose of the "Accept" button? Why did you guys put it there? The update was immediate after pressing that button so I presume the OTA installed already and was just waiting for me to authorize it? I dont remember seeing that choice before....

What happens if I dont touch the "Accept" button?

Since you turned off automatic updates, if you had not tapped the Accept button, then the 2.6.0 update would not have proceeded to install.

It was downloaded and staged/prepared, but not switched to active status yet. You tapped Accept and turned off and exited the vehicle. Then at some point between then and next Power On, an "ABA swap" occurred to complete the switchover to the newer code.

From the wiki page, it appears this update replaced your TCU and APIM software: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Power-Up_Version_History#Versions

Cool. That sounds like a good process. I like it. I much prefer that way vs automatically installing. It was super quick. Much much faster compared to the 2.3.0 OTA. Could be many reasons why of course.

Non-powertrain updates seem like a piece of cake.

For us end users, some of the powertrain updates can be a piece of cake, too. For example the PCM (powertrain control module) and ABS (anti-lock brake system) on the Mach-E support ABA swap installs, just like the TCU and APIM.

When your vehicle downloads Power-Up 2.7.2, it will be interesting to hear your experience on that one, if you choose to install it. That is one of the updates that requires a lock-out period during its install.

Thanks for the wiki link to the power ups! This will really help me to determine which updates I need and which I can skip. Super Cool to have access to that info.
If I read it correctly, the next available PU is 2.7.1 which I can skip since my horn and lights work fine. Always have since the car was new.

2.7.2 was already done at the dealer. I think the smoother braking is only for 1PD users. 2PD drivers got the opposite effect sounds like. I can skip this one thankfully.

2.7.3 was also applied by the dealer. I have all those features listed so I can skip that one as well.

Looks like I get to skip the first two OTAs that have lock-out periods. Yea! :)
That third one sounds scary 2.8.1! 2 1/2 hours of down time to remove the non-functional frunk button? That will have to be done overnight on a weekend for sure.

Update:
4,000 miles later and the updates continue to flow. Been non stop actually. 2 weeks of constant notices of updates. 2.8.3 loaded today so I think thsat is the last update for a while. Good news is that none of these barrage of updates appear to have broken anything. Bad news is that it appears lane tracking is gone forever. The screen says it only holds the center of the lane now and the owners manual has been updated to remove any mention of off center tracking. I will miss that feature. :(

Did you actually skip updates as you described in your previous post?
