This coming Saturday (1/20/2024) I'm drive down to Miami FL from Orlando FL its only 260 miles, but I will have to charge on the way down. I used the Ford app navigation, and it tells me I have to charge at Port St Lucie Plaza. I have already setup my Ford app with my credit card. to prepare for the trip I went to Cosco near me and tested the plug and charge and that worked perfectly so that part is tested and ready to go. I guess this is what range anxiety is. I hope the charges work I also saw there is a Walmart nearby, that I can charge at too, in case the ones at the plaza are not working. I think when we get more charge ports available the anxiety problem will disappear.

That appears to be FPL. You will need to download and setup the FPL Evolution app. Check every location in PlugShare.

I thought that's also part of the ford charging network? I guess I need on more app on my phone.

I couldn't tell from your profile which model you have, but it sounds like you should still have free charging at EA so I would aim for EA chargers until you use it up.

I have a gray 2023 MMEP yes you are correct I still have the free kw from ford. I used a few to test at a EA to make sure account is all setup and I know how to do it.

I'm happy to say I made it down south without a problem. I ended up charging at EA station at a Walmart in Port St Lucie I got pretty good rates. I started at 40% battery pulling 91kw when I was by 65% I was pulling 120kw when I got to 78% I was pulling 28kw. I kept pulling 28kw all the way to 95%. I took extra time to charge it more so I had more power when I got to Miami I think it took 49 minutes. That's not too bad yes it's added and extra 49 minutes to my trip but it gave me time to go to the bathroom and stretch my legs so I'm still very happy with the decision to move to electric.

Tomorrow is my trip home. Let's see how that one works.

Now the trip back home. It's started fine I topped off at my nieces house using a level 1 charger. And headed out I passed by my other nieces house to take her to breakfast and say good by so that was a few extra mile detour but it was not bad. I finally got on the turnpike heading nort. As I was 4 miles from the port st Lucie rest stop the GPS was telling me to get off the highway to charge. It was a 7 mile drive to the EA location in some nasty traffic mind you this EA station was in the mall called Treasure Coast Square. I was a little confused why the GPS would take me here but I followed her directions. I was married for a long time so I learned not to swim against the current. Anyway the station was your typical EA station. Plenty of open slots. I plugged in and went inside to use the restrooms and have a look around. This is my third time using a EA DCFC and the ford app with plug and charge has been perfect. I just plug it in and give it a second and your charging. That's so awesome. No credit card no money no problem. During this charge session the highest charge rate I saw was 97kw at 60% not sure why but just like last time at 70% it dropped to 26kw and it maintained that charge rate till 90% when i unplugged. I was at the site for 40 minutes but I charged to 90% to have extra to make it home. All in all I love my car and the whole EV experience. Is it easy like a ICE car can you decide to just drive and visit friends and so see this or that. I don't think so. The range let's say per tank is really short and the fuel you need is very special so it's not available every few blocks for you to fill up, but it can be done with planning and being willing to deal with the short coming of the new technology.

Congrats on your road trip!

If I can’t get free juice from EA, in Florida I always try to use one of the power company networks: FPL EVolution in most of the state or OUC (ChargeUp) in Orlando.
They’ve agreed to charge $0.30/kWh in a state pilot program. Always at least six stalls and I’ve never had to wait.
Most others charge anywhere from $0.42 to $0.48. EVGo charges $0.59/kwh during the day, so I avoid using them.
