The next recall disaster will be the rereleased 2022 Bolt EUV. I looked at getting one as commuter instead of a MINI. Already heard of a dozen Transmission Control Module stories (“Propulsion power reduced”) in the past two weeks.

It seems like they had this issue with 2021 models too:

Not a good look for EVs if these major issues keep flaring up.

I bet replacing the bolts won't take the four weeks it took to fix the glass on my Mach-E, nor require the six month advance scheduling for the work that it took.

I bet replacing the bolts won't take the four weeks it took to fix the glass on my Mach-E, nor require the six month advance scheduling for the work that it took.
Feeling good about my repair, only took a week to fix the glass. Of course second time I brought it in (first time after three days they called me to let me know they had broken the replacement). However the week fix for the glass came with a hose disconnect for the windshield washer fluid, and they did something to the air bag. In the shop today and tomorrow to fix the recall damage.....

It really doesn't matter.

The Mach E recall story was on every major news site, so lots of folks read it. It doesn't take long to damage the public opinion of a product for the public at large. With so many people anti EV or at least reluctant to go electric any reputational damage is very worrying.
When 2022 mach he's are sold out doesn't that tell you "the whole story"

Yeah, "Stop using the vehicle immediately" is worse.
Though it still really sucks for buyers with MMEs sitting at the dealership they can't take home.

Still July-ish for the OTA fix?

Ford hasn't given any update on the timing. But updates are now in FDRS that are very likely for the recall. I suspect that dealers will be able to install those soon, which should get cars on delivery hold out of jail.

Yeah, the Bz whatever is a major step back from the Rav4EV they used to sell, but then it was tesla powered... FWIW, the rear axle bearing on my 2009 Sport Trac Adrenalin also came apart and nearly cost me the wheel. That and three sets of rear halfshafts too, so Ford isn't perfect either, and I think the Mach-e is on the current explorer platform. Bottoms of the doors on the inside are identical... Those halfshafts cannot take the torque, and I'd bet these are the same, and the Mach-e has more robust torque.

Not really an indication of much to be honest. There is a shortage of vehicles in general right now, and a growing number of people looking for more economical alternatives. There are also a lot of people just ordering to flip the cars within a few months to avoid depreciation.

As a Product Manager with 20+ years experience I know too well how hard it is to build a brand/product following and how easy it is to lose that following. Reputation is everything and once you reach the tipping point its very hard to stop the slide.

History tells us the whole story about two companies that had the worst quality cars ever. Recalls,rust,engine failures....today hyundai and Kia retain their 10 yr. Warranty and are in the top 10 in reliability, but still have recalls. The mach e will continue to sellout ever model year because of the extreme quality control on fit and finish especially paint and materials. Tech problems will be adressed and quality controls enhanced. Our gtp is a 10 at 6000miles. Our 124000 mile 2011 Kia optima sx turbo rings in at a 8. Only repair was a backup camera $350 other then brakes and rotors at 80000 miles.
6 recalls and a loaner when they had to keep it overnite.
