Many of us have been around corporate shakeups in our own line of work and understand that what's said out loud from the top does not always match what's said quietly. From our team huddle today Bill Ford said that Hackett approached him about it being time to make the transition to Farley. Does not sound like Hackett was forced out. Bill Ford even commented that this will be the smoothest leadership transition in his career.
Farley is a 'car' guy. I think he'll be a great product focused guy to have as our CEO. Farley is all about Kaizen, seeking perfection through continuous improvement. I think he'll be wonderful for our EV/AV plans.
Still, it is good to see that Farley has been given the chance to lead the company. Given his background coming up with Toyota and then moving over to Ford where he led the development group for EV propulsion, I think he will do a fine job as Ford moves into the electrification space.
