I hate to feed into one more thread degrading into the same cycle of hitting a brick wall, but now I am curious:

Do plants that produce more than 1 vehicle style actually have more than 1 assembly line? Stopping the line to retool every few weeks would be pretty expensive; when I used to write and sell software for small manufacturers they would go out of their way to reduce setup times as much as possible. Is my assumption correct, or is the single line retooled every so often to switch over to a different vehicle?
Depends on the plant: GM's Hamtramck plant used to have two lines: One for the Volt and one for the Cadillac's it produces.

I believe Ford's Kansas City Truck plant also has two lines: F-150's and Escapes. (Been to both of those...)

Some newer "flexible manufacturing" plants can build different cars back to back on the same line.

I think Ford's Flat Rock assembly is like that; building Fusion Energi's and Mustang's on the same line (could be wrong here, however).

I think Fusion Energi's were only made in Hermosillo (Mexico) . . . .

It's an interesting topic. I'm curious too. I'll have to see if I can find a video on it.

But logic suggests they don't just rework an assembly line set up for one model every 3 or 6 months to flip back and forth to produce 2 completely different models. Not only do you have tooling designed specifically for a model, you have employees trained for that model. It would be highly impractical to make MMEs from Jan-Jun, then Transits from Jul-Dec, then flip back and forth every year.

It also wouldn't make sense from a sales standpoint. Once we get past the first-year reservation stage, the MME will be like any other Ford model -- available on lots year-round, not waiting 6 months for the next batch to be made.

Once more piece of evidence... look at how long it's taking them to set of the MME assembly line now. It's only May, and real production still won't be starting for months yet. If it takes that long to set up and train on an assembly line, they're not gonna tear it down and rebuild it 2 or 3 times each year. If there's multiple models from a single plant, they surely each have their own line. At least that's my assumption.

That was until they stopped building cars for the US: Now "all" the cars are built at Flat Rock from what I understand.

I wonder if anyone is lobbying NL lawmakers to extend the tax regulations for the same reason (virus delays). All auto manufactures worldwide experienced production delays.
With all the extra expenditure that is going on right now, I don't believe anyone in the government will be willing to give electrical car owners / drivers an extra tax break.

We are hoping that bigger EV credits will be part of Green New Deal where the idea is to stimulate economic growth and provide jobs building out sustainable energy from millions of residential and commercial building solar panels to utility grade wind farms both with load leveling gigawatt battery banks. Part of that would upping the EV credit to $10k, removing the 200,000 limit and make it a cash credit vs. a tax credit.

So a good chance going forward we will see more incentive for E's.

I don't know, I was rather fond of this model:

The funny thing about it was that the big selling point (at least for this trim level) was that its 0-60 time was 6.2s--my Bolt can do 6.2s 0-60.

Ford had a nice looking car in the 90s too:

Dealer return today, delivery confirmation in early 2021 (Jan / Feb) that the final towing capacity will only be 750 kg, reason cited by Ford France, Tesla does not offer all of its vehicles with towing capacity (sic). .. Other manufacturers do. Pity. :p:p:p
He apologizes for the delay, that he does not understand this new world in which we live ... I told him that he had to order a Caterham once in his life to learn patience and s '' appropriate disappointments 😂😂😂 .

Is this official information from FORD. I haven't heard anything like this from official Ford representative. As far as I know you can try to use a third party company for delivery. A couple of friends of mine have done this in the USA a couple of months ago. You can find much more information reading this article about Shipaa shipping company. This is a very good article with a lot of useful tips and tricks that will help you with your shipment process. Go on and read it

Unless you are an Australian in the UK, I wasn't aware that the MME was coming to AUS which is probably why. If you are in UK then yes its official. Preorder customers got an email in May
