So if they're getting 300 to 350 on 88/(or99kwh) then the Mach E configurator is conservative at about 30 to 100 kwh/mi BELOW real world use. Am I reading that right?

Meaning the premium long range AWD @ 88 got at least 300 miles, when it was rated for 270 miles.

If the GT could get at least 300miles that would be amazing.
Exactly. 300 miles with 14% still remaining at an average speed of 48 mph -- exactly the EPA test average speed. That's news!

So ... no roof rack, and in NA, no hitch ? ... Well, anyway, not sure i would use the car to move a bike around anyway. But that "ski hatch" thing seem interesting !
There'll be third party roof-mounted racks within weeks, if not sooner after the MME hits the streets.

I would even argue this is better because the EPA test is on a dyno with wind resistence.

Engineering Explained had a good video about EPA testing today on electric vehicles.

Very interesting!

For those who likes numbers, he did 301 miles with 75,7 kWh (14% of 88 kWh battery left).

So that's 3.97 miles /kWh (15,6 kWh / 100 km for us Canadians), which would translate to a range of 350 miles for the AWD long range.

There are no highway between those 2 cities. Google map estimate the travel time at 6h16 (average speed 48 MPH)
preproduction model: How much of that 100 kw pack was unlocked on this one? What else was different? Elevation drop, tail wind etc. Good reported results and hopeful but will not start talking about a 350 mile vehicle until we get EPA results. Even if 100% unlocked it would be 88/99 KW*(484 km/(1-0.14)) = 500 km (312 miles). That would be more than a modest boost to the estimated 270 EPA range in my books (16% increase) and would be more like awesome. Will not get too hyped up on this media; it could just set me up for a let down. I will be happy with a modest increase to 450 km (281 mi) 4% increase from the estimated. 500 km range EV Ya! 550 km ya right.

Yes but remember this information drop was Ford approved, not just some vlogger.

That's VERY encouraging. Hope it can be repeated. 3.97 miles/kWh is WAY better than the 3.07 Ford initially targets for the AWD ER (270 mile range / 88 kWh). 29% better.

Granted, it was only at 48 MPH avg. At probably ideal temps. Going sea level to sea level. Probably driving cautiously rather than aggressively. But still.

@phila, are you familiar with that route?

If you figure that 70% range based on this AWD ER video is accurate, then that'd be 220mi which would be regained in 45 mins of charging, or put another way; 4.9mi (8km) of range every minute on a 150kW charger. That'd be 147 miles of range in 30 minutes.

@dbsb3233, does my math check out?
I get a little different, although I'm not sure if you're trying to account for the declining kW on the charge curve or not.

70% of the 88 kWh (usable) battery is 61.6 kWh added in 45 minutes on a 150 kW charger. At a 3.97 miles/kWh efficiency rate, that would be 244 miles added in those 45 minutes. But of course any drop to that miles/kWh rate (higher speed, colder temps, rain, aggressive driving, etc) reduces those miles too. The fixed number is the 61.6 kWh in 45 minutes.

It's difficult to boil that down to a per-minute rate because that changes depending on where you are in the charge curve. Charging up from 10% should add 17.9 kWh in the first 10 minutes (using Ford's 61 miles in 10 minutes on the RWD ER). 17.9 x 3.97 = 71 miles at that efficiency rate. But it declines from there as you get further down the charge curve.

And again, that's at 3.97. Mileage won't be that good at higher speeds.

Do you know if Norway's regulations and rules concerning cars are in sync with the EU rules? If so, the same restriction regarding roof racks might apply there.

Just idle curiosity is all.
yes - synced with EU -

Trailer hook and Ski Box at roof
It is heated debate in Norway among people who have prebooking on MME to convert to order or not. I have heard of at least 3 cancellation saying that capacity of trailer hook is max 750 kg total and no ski rack roof.
I was thinking if any one in forum have experience with after market options. Was it successfully installed before with any other Car models like I-Pace or Model Y. Any tips ?

I like to bring my electric bicycles x 3 to the mountains, but the maximum load on the trailer coupling is 30 kg. The weight of the bikes approx. 38 kg.

Skies can not been placed on the roof. The importer of Ford in Norway will make ski hatch/opening in the mid back seat as well as install trailer coupling for a towing load of max 750 kg.

The Skoda Enyaq was presented this week, shorter range, but with heat pump, plenty storage place, towing load 1200 kg. and lower price makes it a attractive alternative to the FE I have reserved. Will be available for Vikings as 4x4 during next summer.
