They have 4 supposedly as recent arrivals which I doubt. But guess they have 4 coming in for sale.

They have 1 Select coming in, 2 Premiums, and 1 California Route 1 coming in to MOssy Ford in San Diego

Website says offers at home test drive and deliveries maybe I should take them up on that offer of at home test drives lol

that's unfortunate.

I wonder what exactly is going on there. straw buyers? or were dealers able to place orders directly outside of the order system? (This may be covered elsewhere on the site and I missed it)

I've been checking dealers in Denver. Out of the half dozen I checked, 2 of them have Mach-E's listed in their online new car inventory. They say "In Transit" on their listings. I contacted one of the dealers and asked about it. They said it is still being produced but has not shipped. I assumed it is one of the demo units they were allowed to order. I'll follow up with them and ask.

I’m sure one of the premiums is a demo car and probably the select is as well. Just shocked to see 4 on site

3FMTK3RM6MMA06608 - Red Premium is a stock order. The rest are customer retail orders. Of the four units, three have been produced and one customer unit is in the body shop.

I don't think they can sell the demo car. Those get special handling. When a dealer orders a car for dealer stock (on the lot) they pay for the car when they get it. When a dealer gets a demo car, they don't actually pay for the car up front ... it is allocated to the dealer but since they don't pay for it, Ford technically still owns that car. Ford will decide when they are allowed to sell it because the whole point of them having a demo car ... is to do demos ... to promote the sale of more cars.

Ford controls when they can sell it. When they do sell it, the dealer will get it at a reduced rate based on its mileage and condition (dealer gets an allowance for any repairs or clean-up needed to ready the car for sale.)

This has been discussed previously. They can sell them at 4 months or 4k miles.

There are other dealers in San Diego area with new inventory listings - Encinitas Ford for example - I checked their VINs - I believe these are FCTP vehicles because they all are built or build dates show mid/late November on their VINs. So they cant sell right away.

These are probably auto populated on the dealer website somehow by Ford. I have ordered vehicles from other manufacturers and the same thing happens when it arrives.

I think you are pretty close for the most part. The demo cars are actually dealer stock but the payments are deferred while it is in demo use. The dealer is allowed to sell those vehicles when the criteria is met. First demo is 4 months or 4k miles and employer miles do not count. Subsequent demos may have different criteria or none at all depending on how many demo units were allotted to that dealership.

In short....the demo vehicles do not belong to Ford. They are owned and insured by the dealership.

Just saw on the Mach E Club a post from a new buyer who just put down his deposit with a dealer for an already-built Grabber Blue FE. Haven't heard yet if he's getting nailed with ADM.
