There are other EVs that already have a similar feature. If Ford indeed brings this out, I bet it would see light of day in Europe before it does in the USA. 🤷‍♂️🐩

Yes... Going to be a little difficult to justify a patent on this concept when the Ioniq 5N already offers it. ...And Hyundai has a pending patent that encompasses all the same concepts like directly modifying or modulating power and torque available based on "gear" selection. MINI says they will be offering it in their upcoming newly designed Cooper EV.

Anyway, not a fan. Personally would never buy this feature, but I'm sure there are some who would. ...Consumer response to the feature in the Ioniq 5N has been mostly negative. I'm actually surprised Dodge didn't put this on the Charger EV. but I guess they used up all the lameness on that "Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust" external speaker system.

This is one of the stupidest ideas I’ve ever seen. I should note that I have friends (a married couple) who REFUSE to drive anything without a manual transmission.

I have driven nothing but manual transmissions since the early eighties....until this MME. I wasn't clinging to the past, but giving it up was undoubtedly an emotional tug. I still have a manual shift motorcycle and going to automatic there would certainly be more affecting. Moving on is a good thing in general, but synthetic simulations of past technology seems silly to me.

It never ceases to amaze me what people will pay to make their state of the art vehicle operate more like the outdated technology of the past. Nostalgia’s a hell of a drug.
Both this and the fake V-8 sounds from speakers make me think about the joke in Airplane! The Movie where the exterior shots were of a jet but the sound effect was the drone of a piston-engined propeller-driven plane. 😂

It could have been, but it totally missed the mark if it was... Because Hyundai has already filed for a patent on exactly this and it is an active feature in the Ioniq 5N. I mean, where was the punchline?

Um, no, just no. Hard pass. Make BC better instead. Happy to let the car do all the "shifting".

I'll take pin you to the seat, make you giggle like a school girl, smooth, linear acceleration over chick, baaww, chick, baaww shifting any day. Rocket ships don't need a clutch.
