Only the number they sell in the US matters; even if they produce 70k MME by the end of 2021 it is likely only half of them are sold in the US. The escape PHEV started to go on sale earlier this year but had fire issues, so was pulled temporarily. You'd think whoever "researched" that article would know that.

I believe he does know this. And he admits his Ford prediction was the most shaky. From the article:

I was recently told by Ford spokesperson Mike Levine that availability at US dealers “Should be soon on Escape PHEV.” I assume that means sometime in September or October at the latest.
