Ford Mustang Mach-E Ford Mustang Mach-E Price Expected To Rise Come Monday andrei-nedelea18

By: Andrei Nedelea

The Ford Mach-E forums tell us that if you want to make sure you’re paying the current price, you should order one now.
Ford dropped the price of almost all variants of Mustang Mach-E by up to $3,000 in September of last year. However, now it seems it will be raising them again, and this is expected to happen on Monday, 26 April, although we don’t know by how much they will be increased.

Message received from an unnamed Ford dealer. The message said
Ford called and asked why a customer is dragging his feet in converting his reservation ( we have been trying to contact him for the last few weeks) and told us that the pricing on the Mach-E’s is going up on Monday and they will be subject to that.
No additional details were provided and when forum admins reached out to Ford, the Blue Oval replied with a coy statement, saying that they will, in fact, be sharing some news on Monday, but refrained from mentioning what the news was.

Ford may also have been referring to the fact that on the same Monday, it plans to reveal pricing (and open order books) for the Someone Spotted The Ford Mach-E GT In Traffic, the model that will sit at the top of the Mach-E lineup. Another reason why Ford may be raising the price has to do with the high number of reservations it already has for the model.

The automaker may feel that the model is too cheap now, given the very high demand, and the already high number of orders (order books opened on June 26, 2020). Ford has said it can supply around 50,000 Mach-Es annually for the entire world and it also recently started accepting pre-orders from China too.

I hope it’s not by much. If they want to take a real bite out of Tesla’s market share, they need to the keep the price competitive (and get those production numbers up in the next few years).

Tesla just had their 2nd price increase of the year this week (most models/trims up $500). I wonder if it's due to chip shortages and component shortages? Would make sense that Ford would have to follow suit.

I don't think they are raising the price at all. I think it is a ploy by the dealer to get his customer to order to make his target
Maybe, or maybe they are just restoring the US price to what it was originally, before last year's drop. They may have lowered the price then because they experienced some cancellations of orders. But now they see that the abandoned orders aren't collecting dust on dealer lots, and have been well received, they figured the original price was fair.

The cost of steel has increased significantly this year also.

Maybe a Ford insider can confirm, but orders don't typically count toward target numbers. Only actual sales.

This article is speculative based on what a dealer has said. I think we all know that the dealers know less about the Mach E than even most of us here. I couldn't even get my dealer to comment on what the GT will actually come in, price wise. I may end up being wrong, but I don't see this happening so soon in the production life cycle

Just checked the price on the german order website again for the heck of it.

My order from Feb 2nd:
base cost 62.900,-€ (AWD Ext.)
color 1.100,-€ (infinite blue)
tech addon #2 3.000,-€ (which I think translates to premium trim of features)

Now:
base cost 63.700,-€
color 1.100,-€
tech addon #2 3.250,-€

So they already increased the price by 1.050,-€ over here. But they reduced the reservation cost from 1.000,-€ to only 100,-€.

I expect this just to be a price adjustment to reflect Blue Cruise becoming standard as opposed being an optional $600 software add-on for cars already built (because Ford didn't expect customers to pay for features ahead of their actual availability).

Tesla's increase was due to lumber shortages.

That is true but to get the sale you need to take the order

Yeah I think this price increase is correct. We have been expecting in Ireland orders to open in the begining of April of this year and it still hasn't happened. I guess they are waiting for this price correction so they don't need to adjust prices 2 times?

We like our drama here don't we. That article is hardly persuasive although I suspect if Biden increases the tax credit to $10K, you'll see the price instantly follow it.

The new Tuscon would also more than adequately do the job I need done as a hybrid with the added plus that I wouldn't feel bad about trashing it a little bit and it could at least do minor off-roading something the Mach E isn't equipped to do. Not as fun though.

Either way.
