this is a wonderful video. it's maybe the first one I've seen that presents the Mach-E appropriately and explains things in a clear, direct way.

there's a tiny nit with one part I could pick, but it's not important enough to get in to.

@Administrator I suggest this be stickied because it can help a lot of a new owners.

How do you stop charging if the app isn't working? Just today I decided to try L2 ChargePoint local charger in the park. It started fine, but when it was time to leave FordPass tells me it can't connect, try other time. I didn't see any button on the charger to stop the charging, I looked at the ME screen and didn't see anything to stop the charging there either. I didn't want to just pull the plug. Eventually FordPass came to its senses and I was able to stop and disconnect. So I wonder, what if the apps on your phone aren't working, how do you stop the charging.

I agree up to the point where he suggests charging up to 100% when the manual calls for 90% as we all know. If the manual calls for such and he says otherwise, I can't suggest the video. Ford is saying to charge to 90% for a reason, not just as an inconvenience to all of us.

yeah that's probably fair. I didn't register this as an issue, but that's because I ignore the 90% thing. There's enough space in the battery that I don't want to think about it (meaning I never want to have to say "wait I need the range".

He states as a fact that the 11% buffer of 99% is enough to protect the battery with doing routine 100% charges. I only disagree with this part of the video, the rest is great. I gave him a thumbs up and he is a fellow NJ guy too. The 90% has been discussed to death on the forum, so I will leave it at that.

The first half of this video is a wonderfully informative tutorial for novices to home charging. The only nits I would pick here are:
  1. He could have elaborated that there’s almost zero utility to keeping the “mobile charger” in the car. At one point he even says it could be useful to plug in at 120v if the alternative is calling a tow. But really is it? It would likely be faster to call a (free) tow to a fast charger even if that tow took a couple hours.
  2. Probably should have mentioned manual’s 90% recommendation.
Now the second half of the video re public charging. Ugh. Look, this thing played like a Ford infomercial that bears no relation to my experience, or the experience of most others I’ve seen, when it comes to the “ease” of public charging. Either he’s the luckiest dude in the world or he really glossed over the experience. A few things in particular:
  1. Fails to mention that you can’t access discounted pricing through FP (aside from the free EA kWh)
  2. FP is hardly the streamlined process he describes. Not even close.
  3. He waaaaay oversimplifies the public charging process, and you’re supposed to initiate the charge through FP before you plug in. What he shows in the video at 28:40 is clearly fake!
  4. Plug and Charge just worked perfectly for him, huh? Yeah for most other people not so much.

Not just him worked perfectly for me on two long road trips. not an issue once. 100% plug-in and charge. 9 Different fast charging spots also. He knows enough in his mind 100% charging is ok with the massive buffer. Many other experts have said the same. Ford is just playing it safe. Smart for ford and great people know what it can handle.

Wow, now it's working for her also. Maybe EA has been working on it. maybe things are getting better. Maybe just give Ford or EA an ounce of time to fix it.

Nope. If it ever failed for a few users that means it's a disaster. ??
