10 years ago the gathering of metadata by NSA was a huge story that got a lot of attention. Google et al gather and track far more than that without a peep of concern
Total Information Awareness was the name of the program and I remember it VERY well. Some people ARE disturbed by what companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon are doing today. Realistically, there’s very little you can do about it, except try to avoid them when possible.

I suggest watching the movie "Social Dilema" there are other such movies/podcasts etc. Don't think any of these services started out being nefarious per se, (except amazon) but now have influence on all kinds of social issues. Believe they are now trying to promote "altruistic" goals. The problem is it is their altruistic goals.
If you don’t think any of the services started out being nefarious, I’d suggest you take a good look at the very public origin story of Facebook (or, should I say “the face book”? ?)

Do you think partial avoidance makes much, if any, difference? Virtually every adult in current American society has multiple 'profiles' stored in databases of large companies. Exactly how they are used is only partially known. Unless you are willing to totally disappear from the grid and live in a cabin in the woods, big data has got you. Trying to hold back a little info from FAANG is only keeping you from enjoying the services they provide.

Again, you like the straw man/in absurdium argument.

My vet having information on my dog that they use to send ads for heartworm meds is a very different thing than the aforementioned cambridge analytica campaign to influence critical US and UK policy changes.

I'll agree it's time to move on, though

Lol you are making an unfounded assumption - that I would even “enjoy” their services. Trust me, in the case of Facebook and Amazon at least, that is absolutely a wrong assumption ?

To each their own. Hard to imagine being against Amazon's services, but you do you.

Now you are finally beginning to get it. Choice and freedom. I want the choice not to use Amazon. Monopolies are never good.

I was. I had to go to the dealer and have them do the update manually to resolve. BTW, I assume you mean the OTA. I don’t think there’s been a Sync 4 update yet.

Hopefully not. I’m theory, this should have “unstuck” it. We will see.

I hope so, Jeff Besos stay the hell away from my car. You have already done enough damage. I will try to avoid Amazon as much as I can.
Amazon, no not in my car. Apple, please come in. I will disable all Amazon services in my car and will be VERY unhappy if i cant.
