The port was 'open sourced' long after the Mache was on the drawing board, and 'open sourced' doesn't mean there was an automotive standard. Nor would that standard mean anyone else could use the network (eg, rivian network now has ccs but only rivian can use it). opening the Tesla network and creating a standard took extra years and only became true in the last few months. Blame elon, he was keeping both the standard and the network as an advantage. in terms of adoption now, blame a combination of the us federal gvt, and ford, who paid off Tesla to open their network.I think all EVs should have been built this way from day zero, because the network was already in place thanks to Tesla, and the port was open sourced.
i know, no one ever wants to think the federal gvt does anything good.
