Perhaps they will ship my car after sitting for 4 weeks waiting on chips. I would consider that to be "revolutionary". That's how far my expectations have dropped. Honestly, is it too much to send status updates???

Ford’s super awesome at announcing stuff. We should put whomever manages the announcing department in charge of the OTA update department.

Battery recycling and taking ownership of their own battery production?

Not being flippant here, but would you really want Ford doing their own battery production and battery management software? Based on the stability and reliability of PAAK, I don't think that Ford is at a state where it can write, test and deploy battery management software better than the current manufacturers can. Looking at the impact that the flaws have had with the Chevy lighter, I mean Bolt, Ford needs to watch and learn.

You're probably right - even the crazy rich guy uses a third party company CATL. But at the same time how much worse could Ford (in general) in having a bigger hand in their battery tech be worse than what LG has done to GM.

There are advantages to being able to blame someone else if a problem crops up.

That sounds like the perspective of a child. I would expect a large company like Ford understands that it is accountable for its entire business, including products and components supplied by vendors.

At some point I would expect their investment in Rivian would start paying off with better battery tech / thermal management.

I would rather see Ford take ownership of their own charging network similar to Tesla. Not relying on a 3rd party to provide chargers for your EV cars would be the biggest improvement any manufacturer could make to the EV revolution.

LG Energy designed most of the Bolt's systems and software for GM. GM built the rolling chassis and the motors.

To be more accurate GM motorized a firebomb.

Ford can build a better battery. They only need to hire more good programmers and start acting like a software company.

I've heard it said that Ford is a car company that is trying to learn software and that Tesla is a software company that is trying to learn car manufacturing. Interesting times.

Ford is working to up their game in the UI/UX/infotainment software space. They have been writing the important software (powertrain management, ABS, SIR, etc.) quite well for decades.
