Ok, a couple of theoretical questions here:
  1. Would it be possible / feasible for Ford to redesign the HVBJB with some form of active cooling and / or more effective radiative cooling in a future iteration?
  2. Would it be possible / feasible for Ford to put one or more thermal sensors in / around the HVBJB with control logic to “throttle things back when it gets toasty”, until it has a chance to cool down a bit, without completely sacrificing performance or putting the vehicle into a SVS state?

I always knew that deep down you cared Rick 🥰
Never knew anything about this Phizer drug. Said emergency use only for SARS Covid-19. Good to know because I have a lot of comorbities and should I get Covid I would ask my PCP to put me on it. I had both initial injections and was boosted twice but that doesn’t seem to prevent one from getting Covid. We’re you vaccinated?

Don’t know the answer to your questions but I watched some UTube videos about dropping the battery and getting to the contactors inside. It looked very complicated with a lot of steps and I don’t know how many Ford technicians have the lift and the knowledge/training to replace them. I can see why it would be an expensive undertaking but so was the windshield/panoramic roof recall and this new recall seems a lot more serious to me. I don’t understand Ford’s priorities in this matter.

Yes I was. Even though they are saying it's emergency use only Kaiser, at least, is offering it to anyone who tests positive. I don't qualify under the EUA, but they still gave it to me.

Just beware. You may feel good and test negative just after completion of the meds, but then test positive again 1-2 days later. This happed to me just now, but the rebound only lasted 2 days.

Yeah I'm told that's common

Yeah, I'm getting more than a little sick of worrying about this and yet to have any sign of the recall OTA. Just want it over with too.
I got the recall update at the dealership a couple days after the s/w was released. (I informed the service manager that it was released 🙃 )

Have you tried that route?

Damn Todd, so sorry to hear you got Covid too. I hope the Paxlovid helps and I'm glad to hear that Kaiser gave it to you without issue. (I'm with Kaiser too but haven't yet had Covid, so I've not had to try to get it.)

As others I'm impressed with your remote camera setup. What are you using for battery backup?

Look forward to hearing more about why you car is being towed to your local dealership! Which dealership is it going to? (I bought mine from Future in Sac, but I've never been there. Did the deal over the phone and they delivered the car to me. I get service done at a local dealer.)

Easy.

The battery requires a special lift to lower the battery from the car, and it's expensive. And some tools. My large dealership has ONE, and plans on buying ZERO more. They've now stated only customers can bring their vehicles in for battery service.

The windshield/roof recall was nearly all done by independent glass shops. There are literally thousands and thousands of these in the US. Maybe tens of thousands.

Apples, oranges.

Thanks for the well wishes.

I don't use a backup battery. There's really no reason to because if the LVB gets low the HVB will top it off. Although it can be scary to get the battery drain message it's actually a good thing when you know why because it means the car is doing it's job.

They are gonna take it to Folsom or Elk Grove I believe. It's just a matter of who can get on it quicker.

Hi Todd and all,
I caught covid in mid July and after a second night of cold like congestion, screened positive so I went to our local Public Health Dept Wed a.m.. They ran the same screen which also was positive and did a PCR test (learned of it being positive ~48 hrs later). I was immediately offered a telehealth consult with an MD and after reviewing my few Rx meds offered me Paxlovid (at 70 I'm in a high risk group) right there in the clinic. I took the first set of pills that Wed morning (in the car before leaving the clinic) and was screening negative by Sun eve (and again on Mon). I too have been fully vaccinated and boosted. I've not had any recurrence of symptoms. Interestingly my wife who slept right next me those first 2 nights tested negative consistently.

As a clinical psychologist and clinical researcher I am a firm believer in science.

Sorry to see you hit this @DevSecOps on a family trip. I had done this pass a few times for family trips, just glad my failure happened at home and not with the family/bunny in the car in the summer heat.
