I'm in IL, and as is the case everywhere so far Mach Es have been delivered with the front license plate bracket already installed.

My unit is not yet in production, and I contacted my dealer and requested they delete the front license plate bracket from my order. The salesman got back to me and said the GM deleted it, and attached the following screenshot as proof. But...the front license plate bracket still shows. Has anyone had similar confirmation? I kind of feel like it's still on my order.

Also, has anyone in a state that requires front license plates had luck getting it deleted and delivered without it installed at the factory?

Perhaps since IL is a state that requires a front license plate by law, maybe Ford is legally obligated to put one on (CYA)? Since you don't want the front license plate installed are you planning to not register and/or drive the car in IL? Just curious.

No, I live in IL so my car will be registered in IL. I bought a custom bracket that will mount with 3M tape to prevent there from being holes drilled in the front of the car. So all will be legal, I just don't like the idea of not getting a choice to drill holes in my brand new $60k car. It's like forced circumcision on newborns...or something.

Bad analogy, but youā€™re quite correct, the front bracket should be an easy delete option for those that donā€™t want it. There are enough custom bracket options now that this shouldnā€™t be an issue. Yet somehow it is.

Personally, it no longer matters to me and the factory license plate bracket has grown on me (a bit). On the plus side, factory workers and not some yahoo are drilling the holes.

Or just give us all EU style plates and be done with this stuff. :p

Nobody who ordered late enough to still be able to remove the license plate bracket from their order has received their car yet, so I donā€™t think anyone will be able to answer your question.

I asked about that since I donā€™t need it (PA). My salesman said they routinely delete them from all vehicles they order. He made it sound pretty simple.

My dealer said that they and some others provided feedback to Ford to stop installing them at the factory. Ford apparently is saying that itā€™s standard procedure, but the dealers are saying that none of the standard mustangs they receive have them preinstalled.

So I got this update from my Dealer:

"The preview order showed the license plate bracket as ordered, we have removed it from the order twice, Chuck has contacted our Ford representative to find out why it keeps on showing in the preview order. We will find out more Monday."

So it looks like it's not something that they can delete, but I hope to find out more next week.

I have a Craig's license plate and asked my dealer a few weeks ago to delete the license plate from my order. I live in Illinois also so we'll see if they put one on anyway. I have my VIN now so no changes can be made but we deleted the bracket before it had a VIN.

BTW, GREAT choice of color! I have the same car on order except for the seats (mine are Space Grey)!

I live in IL too and had requested the Front bracket not be installed as well. Mine still shows as in Production. Is there a way to confirm this without going back to the dealer ?

Is it listed on your window sticker? If so, you're out of luck.

My dealer said it cannot be deleted.

It is and I wish there was an option to not have it installed at the factory. But I can learn to live with it. I just want to see some movement other than still being in production. Pretty excited that others have started to slowly receive theirs.

I have not confirmed that the dealer deleted the bracket but I have no cause to believe he didn't. I asked him to change my battery from standard to extended range and he did that so I have to assume he took care of the bracket as well. I don't have the window sticker yet on the VIN tracker so I can't see if it's on there or not and it wasn't listed on the screens of what is on my car. I am scheduled for production May 24th so I have a long time to wait and see. I have my fingers crossed. Have you checked the VIN tracker? Why don't you try that and see your window sticker.
