This is an interesting article on the number of companies that have turned their focus to fuel cells on long haul trucking. If the auto companies can get a couple of the truck stop companies involved like Love's, Petro, Flying J or TA Travel Centers, then deployment seems possible.

Fuel cells are a popular approach for the fossil fuel industry. While it requires a pivot from oil to hydrogen, it continues to yield profits from their considerable investment in distribution and sales of liquid fuels.

I thought jets may go this way but ya all those transports back on the roads trucking fuel for trucks to truck. I like the smart (battery loaded) trailers; hook it to the Cab which controls. Two electric motors/axle; lots of torque and all computer balanced. Possible solid state and increased charging speeds; who knows? Another vote against side ways progression.
