Full Screen Android Auto Question

I have been patiently waiting and finally got the OTA update that gives AAuto full screen and it has finally arrived. This is more of a AAuto question but does anyone know how to disable the "search" bar that takes up real estate on the map? I have Googled the question but there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. Any suggestions? Thanks

Is it in Google maps? I use Waze (not in full screen AA) and the search bar is only visible when the car is not in motion.

I use AA because I really like the satellite view. I wish waze had that

I am guessing it is a Google maps "feature".

BTW: It is great to have full screen AA. I also recently got 1 or 2 updates. My Sync version is 22179 Rev 478.

Yeah, I got the recent OTA recall update and I still don't have full screen. It's at the dealership right now, so I'm hoping they will check my modules and see if anything has not been updated. Job 2 2021.

Just to clarify things for others, both Google Maps and Waze are available apps in Android Auto (AA) but only Maps has a satellite view option. Might be stating the obvious but I rather not assume that is common knowledge .

As for the OP's question, I don't believe you can hide or disable the search bar while using Maps in AA. I searched the Google Maps app on my phone and found no option to hide or disable search. Next time I'm in my car, I'll check settings within the AA Maps app.

AA in the Mach-E needs a lot of refinement in my opinion. It does a poor job of properly utilizing that large screen. The software could also be more fluid and responsive. I think it is supposed to be thoroughly updated at the end of the year. However, as a long time Google software user, I don't have my hopes up that truly meaningful and useful changes will be implemented.

Thank you for your reply. I wish the search bar was able to be disabled. I don't need to search for the same places I visit 99% of the time. The Sattelite view is really interesting to me. I wish Waze had it.

Yes, it's on it's way with an Android Auto update that includes a new feature called "Coolwalk". It was due out a few weeks ago and then was pushed back to version 8 (which was just released in beta) but the feature was surprisingly missing from that update so it should be arriving any time now.
