Like most weekends, today I took the MME out in the country for some spirited back roads country driving. Usually after a couple hours it's time for lunch and there are a few mom & pop bar & grills out in the middle of nowhere where it is not uncommon to be parked next to a John Deere or an old pickup truck.
So I am sitting at a table outside after placing my order when a party of 9 twentysomethings sit down a the tables across from me and start talking about who was smashed the most last night and who passed out when at the farm. They were all complaining about being hung over, but it didn't stop them from ordering a bunch of screwdrivers and other drinks.
I was already starting to chuckle to myself when one of them noticed the MME out front and asked the others if that was really a Mustang. That of course turned in to the usual discussion on how Ford should not have called it a Mustang since "it is not a performance vehicle" and "only rich people will buy something like that so they can say they have a special Mustang". Now I am really chuckling to myself and I am just waiting for one of them to notice I am sitting about 10 feet away from them wearing a MME tee shirt. They never did, and while I thought about correcting the errors in their assumptions, I figured I wouldn't get very far so I just continued to listen and be amused.
So after finishing the meal and show, I get in the MME and I must admit I left it in reverse a little longer than needed to keep the back up beeper going. I would have paid money to hear the conversation as I was backing out, but I would have paid even more to hear the discussion after I was able to do a 0 to 60 launch from the stop sign right next to the driveway.
