Garage Charging and Whole House Backup Generators-Warning

If you have installed a garage charger and you have a whole house backup generator, you should consider installing a relay that cuts off the garage charger when your generator is the sole source of power to prevent overloading your standby whole house generator. Such circuits have bee used for years to protect standby generators from central air conditioners and hot tub overloads. Many whole house transfer switches have overload contacts in them for overload protection.
