Nothing groundbreaking, but you get to see the guts of your order...

If you have your vin (and you're a computer geek), you can get all sorts of info about your ordered car by going to this url. Just update your vin at the end. Warning: this will return a bug JSON object.

https://shop.ford.com/aemservices/shop/vot/api/customerorder/?partAttributes=BP2.*&vin=MY IN

If you don't know how to reformat and indent that, you can use the following page and paste the above url with your vin in the field "input 2 — fetch from url". Then click the adjacent fetch button.

Very cool. Firefox detects the JSON response and formats it automatically.

For my VIN, I can see my last name in it, that it's a "Retail (222R) (OBC8S)" order that is currently "In Order Processing" and that it was received on 2020-07-01 (UTC, I suppose, since I ordered 6/30 MST).

For @SnBGC's FE VIN, it shows that it's a "Stock (222S) (OBC8T)" order that is "In Production" and was ordered on 2020-08-14.

For @ChasingCoral's temporary car, it shows some interesting details:
  • order received 2020-01-27
  • production 2020-08-03 (although the VIN sticker says 07/21)
  • shipment 2020-08-27
  • order type "Company Car (222C) (OBC8R)"
  • status "In Transit" (well that's true!)
Sadly, none of the orders included the "Hood and Side Stripes" option (WERS code CJTAA).

One little note . . . if using the second link and copying and pasting the first URL, take out the "MY" after the = sign and paste your VIN right after that = sign.
Pretty interesting.

Already found this link but you cannot automate the retrieval of VINs via a script or program, only by hand via browser

That's really cool. Seeing output that connect that VIN to me and to my dealer makes the car feel more real!

Cool. I wondered what that next Primary Status description would be. "In Transit" Makes sense.

Primary Status = "In Production" could be any of of the Secondary Status steps from "Sent to Plant" thru "Produced"

All the FCTP cars are stock units.

Its interesting to all the options (attributes i guess) and mostly false. For my VINs the dates are all the same as what I can see on ford VIN website - perhaps the dates will be more meaningful as the dates get closer

One odd thing I noticed, Item 11, BMLAE, Wheel Lip-Black Painted says False on my Premium. Could it be that they'll be body colored? That would suit me.

Surprised nobody picked up on the fact that window stickers have been printed. The EPA MPGe figures would be on that document unless they printed the stickers blank and then are going to add a supplement sticker later.....
