Getting a strange DTC with my MX+

I scanned my MME with my new MX+ and had some DTCs. They all cleared except for U0442-68 which seems to indicate "Invalid Data Received From (ECM)/(PCM) 'B'".

Does anybody have a good idea what this means?

That's a VDM code. In general "Invalid Data Received From blank" codes aren't really a cause for concern as long as everything else functions normally. I wouldn't worry about it, almost every Mach-E is rolling around with a couple codes in memory.

Hey, finally someone else with my DTC! I have this one all the time. Letting the car sit, and restarting a few times, finally lets it clear. Only to come back right away. I haven’t noticed any issues and I’ve had my car, and the DTC, since January 2022.

my vote for "understatement of the year". I think my car has thrown more codes than all my other cars combined. If there is ever a day where my car doesn't have a DTC then I will need to check my scan equipment.

Noticed our new 2023 Mach-E has this same issue with VDM as well U0442. Does it clear on its own over time. I have everything updated in FDRS.

I have lots of codes thrown, I am afraid to clear because if I bring to dealer will they still be able to see a problem?

It’ll eventually clear on a self test in FDRS, but no point trying for it. I spent a bunch of time on it yesterday.

I did the VDM config, BECM and BECMB configs, and then did a self test and it was all green. Did another self test, back to the same DTC.
