There is a foam gasket being added to the pano roof that *should* be available to order next Monday. Yes, I understand that’s not what the early recall notice states, but this is likely a change to make sure the repair job is able to be completed at the dealer with acceptable quality. This requires some cleaning and prep and removal of old adhesive which is why I assume they need a body shop in addition to the glass repair services. Glass is done literally all the time, I’m not sure why people are thinking the Mach e glass will be so different than another vehicle the dealerships glass repair suppliers see regularly. Doing a few Mach-e’s ahead of yours can’t hurt but it’s not that different either.

@woody Ford investigated a report after a customer repair and found that not enough adhesive was applied. February 2021 - June 2021 production dates affected. There is a robot with sensors and quality inspection cameras applying the adhesive. They likely reviewed the quality data from the sensors/camera system or robot program and found an issue with the dispense robot over the time frame the recall was set for.

I've stated in other threads about this. It's not raining inside my vehicle, nor do I have any wind noise, so I'll stand by until the dealership gets instructions and any parts before going in. I'm lucky enough to have a sister that runs a service department and she just loves when Ford puts out recalls in the app. People freak and race in demanding immediate fixes. Everyone just breathe...this will get the attention it needs and your vehicle will survive.?

My dealership is setting up to do this starting the week of 12/6. Based on my discussion with the body shop manager, the glass work will be done by a vendor, and they will ensure that several replacement windshields are in stock for quick acquisition if necessary. They did an F-150 recall on about 50 trucks with windshield R&R and one broke, so they're preparing for that possibility.

They also said that they know that Mach-E owners will likely be much more particular about the quality of the work, and are ensuring that the glass vendor knows that and takes their time to do it well.

I'm going to get my repair done (hit small animal), then do the glass recalls in January or so.

I have an appointment with my dealer in a couple of weeks but the response from my dealer was a bit odd: "We can performed the inspection. If it passes it will only take a day. If it fails the inspection we will have to send it to the local bodyshop."

Having read the recall, I don't see an "inspection" unless they mean remove the windshield.

I think it's more likely that they're confused.
Has anyone seen the full dealer bulletin yet? A quick search on the forum only referenced the advance letters.

So interesting to read all this. My dealer scheduled my appointment 2 weeks out, yes before the November date specified but scheduled it for this week, after that date. I mainly did it so close because I needed some updates to some modules and wanted to get it all done. So my dealer informs me after a day of the car being there they have to order both the windshield and pano roof because it WILL break on removal. THEN they tell my they can’t install the pano because they don’t have a body shop. All in line with the above comments.

My MME has no leaks or wind noise. I’m with others and may just not get these recalls.

Well I called my dealer today on another topic (free ford connected charger w/purchase of a Mach-E in November!) and they let me know they already have parts for the recall a few days early. I was not expecting that! So just scheduling with the body shop and glass repair. I should have my car next week complete with both roof and windshield recalls complete. I can take some pics and post here when i finally get it. This service manager seems to be on top of things so I suspect they will do a great job. I should find out soon though…

Tip - your dealership is incompetent.

My dealership did an F-150 windshield recall. 50 F-150s. I broke. That's 2% breakage.

I too received those windshield/roof recall notices but just put them aside for now.

I happened to be at the dealership today as my car received updates for SSM 50077, TSB 21-2405, and TSB 21-2249 (they also took the time to reprogram my IPMA, RFA, and GFM).

My service manager advised me that in order to perform the windshield/roof service, there was a process that they must follow. Per the SM, it requires some visual inspection to first verify the car does indeed need the service. Once they have verified, they are permitted to place an order for the parts. Once the parts arrive, the dealership will have a licensed 3rd party do the work. I was told this would take a few days and I can expect a rental.

I told my SM I will check back in with them 2nd week of December so that they (Ford Inc.) has time to figure things out and adjust the process so it's more streamlined.
