For those who use their car as a daily driver in Arizona. This will be windshield replacement and pano seal. There is a line in the procedure that checks the windshield for damage and if so, replace it. Can't drive very far here without picking up windshield damage of some kind.

Are you sure they mean any damage? I have a bunch of very small rock chips (as you stated, nearly unavoidable here for vehicles driven on freeways), but there are no large cracks that I'm aware of.

I was thinking they were referring to damage caused during removal or if it's damaged out near the edges or something like that. But I hope you're right! :)

I guess "damage" is subjective. A dealer may look for any reason to increase their revenue and make their job easier.

Warranty parts are not a money maker. Plus if they start replacing a ton of windshields they are gonna have some 'splaining to do to their Ford rep. The bulletin says Ford is expecting less than 10% of the vehicles to need a new windshield.

In that scenario, yes.
......how about if they make you claim it on your insurance? "Sorry sir, we found some chips in the glass so you will need to file a claim with your insurance company because we don't want to be responsible if the glass breaks during removal."

And since we all have zero deductible glass replacement coverage here in AZ... .

I'd throw a fit if the dealer damaged my vehicle and refused to take liability for their actions. They can't pry their mistakes onto my insurance. They have their own insurance.

This isn't true.

Really?
I have zero deductible glass coverage. For as long as I can remember. Thought that was mandatory here? Did that change?

I never had it with any provider until this March. I chose to add full glass coverage to my premium because of the hugely expensive glass on the Mach-E (compared to my prior vehicles).

I had a Fusion for about 7 years. I replaced the windshield on it twice, fully out of pocket. If I'd paid my insurance carrier for coverage, it would have cost me approximately what I paid out of pocket, but also would likely have cost me even more in the form of increased premiums at later policy renewals.

Every carrier I've had here has included glass repair coverage as zero deductible. Their rationale is that repairing glass will help prevent future claims caused by not repairing it.

I got to the bottom of the glass recalls. It's not that Ford hasn't provided the information, it's an issue of local implementation. Since Koons doesn't have their own body shop they are trying to figure out the logistics of working with Maryland Collision Center. They have a guinea pig running through the process right now and fortunately it's not Marlin! The windshield recall requires some things being taken apart on the inside, which MCC doesn't want to do. The result is splitting the work between two places will be a pain. Koons is checking to see if they may arrange for a mobile glass company like Safelight to do the glass work and Koons does the interior work, that way all the work gets done. They'll figure it out by next month.

I'll be glad to wait until they figure it out before I go in.

I am in the 4th day and they got the windshield done. Then they took down the headliner and found they did not have the roof seal needed for the recall. So they are putting the headliner back up and will call when the seal is in fire another 1-1/2 day of work. I would have verified if I had the roof seal before I removed the headliner.

Real bitch as we are a single car family and Ford has no loaners and the rental world has no cars either. Thank God I have friend who is traveling and an loan me his truck.

For the recall expect a full week and make sure the dealers has the parts before starting.

Hi all,

I got the recall notice on my Mach-E for the Panoramic Roof Glass Reseal and Windshield Glass Reseal. Made an appointment with Frontier Ford in Santa Clara and the service adviser told me that the part is not yet in stock (Glass roof).

He also told me that the repair needed to be done at a Ford Dealership with a body shop which for me would be Fremont Ford or Capital Ford in San Jose.

I thought this was a reseal according to my alert in the FordPass app?

Anyways, the advisor said to check back next year to see when the roof is in stock and they should be able to replace the windshield and roof at the same time.

Has anyone had this recall service done already? Did they replace or reseal the roof and windshield? Any clarifications would be helpful.

Thanks,
Kwai

I STRONGLY recommend avoiding Fremont ford FYI, their service department broke a part on my 4 day old focus RS and bricked the car for 28 days and didn't want to take ownership of it, only going through ford corporate did I get resolution. Then once giving it back they drove it through their car wash which ripped the front license plate off and scratched the hell out of the bumper and "forgot" to tell me about it (thank god I did the walk around with them). Took them a few minutes to go grab me my license plate and another 2 months and ford corporate to get them to agree to repairs.

Your dealer seems confused. There is no recall inspection and the details have already been sent to dealers. The step by step instructions are even posted on the NHSTA website.
actually the pano roof recall states dealer is to INSPECT, and add additional sealant as needed.
