Just bought the same one you have. It is the newer model and shouldn't have the heat problem the older one did. The LED screen shows the temperature of the unit and I'll be watching that to see if it goes too high. I may end up unplugging it after each use too (I know that is what they recommend). EDIT 1-24-2022 Canceled order with Amazon after carefully reading the review on this EVSE. I don't want to risk having a problem; I don't like that they tell you to unplug if it is not being used; and I don't like that it is neither UL or CL certified (messaged them and asked and they replied no they aren't certified). I am now thinking of the Girzzl E charger that is 40,36,24 or 16 amps (set with dip switch internally) as I have a 50 amp GFCI breaker with #6 AWG hot (2) and neutral (1) wires and a #10 AWG ground (1) wire. I'll set it to 40 amp which will charge the car a little faster then the current 32 amp Ford Mobile Charger.
Did you end up buying the Grizzl-E charger and if so how is it working out for you?

Yes, after thinking about it I bought the Avalanche Grizzl-E EVSE. It works well and charges the car faster than the Ford Mobile Charger did. The mobile charger is now in the car. The cable is heavy duty and that is my only complaint. It's hard to bend but it's also very heavy duty. It's got the UL endorsement whereas the other one did not and when I asked them about it, they admitted it but said it met all the requirements. It just set off alarm bells when they advise unplugging it when not in use. I didn't want to come out to my garage with a unit overheating and potentially causing more problems.

Thanks for the pic! I definitely don’t want something that I have to unplug every time I use it! I will be mounting it to the right side of my Power box and looping the 14-50 plug over as you have done.

For Californians in the AQMD EVSE rebate territory: The Mustart EVSE is not UL certified and, because of that is disqualified from the $250 EVSE rebate. I bought one for charging my Hyundai Ioniq 5 with my existing 240v 30amp dryer circuit. (Because of high cost of electrician-installed 50 amp circuit, I postponed adding a new circuit to use with the faster Ford MME EVSE, and because I still don't have a MME until next summer/fall. If the purchased EVSE requires a new circuit, one must also show that it was installed by a certified electrician and is properly permitted in order to qualify for the rebate.)

Not being UL Listed and this from like the second Amazon review would leave me hesitant, granted Amazon reviews are flaky... I personally would rather pay the extra money for the UL Certification to have some peace of mind. I don't always believe in the saying "You get what you pay for" but for something like this, I'd much rather spend the cash.

I do like the LCD screen on the front of it though, allows you to easily see what is happening

" there is a serious safety issue with this product . It is sold as a 40 amp charger but the cable is only rated for 30 amps. The local electrical safety inspector has IMPOUNDED the charger as being an unsafe product."
Yet there is no reference or report cited. Impounded? ... local electrical inspector? Impounded from whom and why would he inspect a mobile charger? What authority dies he have to impound vs giving a citation. This "review" reads as if posted by a troll.

That thick heavy cord is the very reason I dont want a GrizzlE. I want a ChargePoint, but its too pricey in my opinion for my needs. If I ever see it go on sale for $150 off, I'll be all over it.

For those interested, this is the lastest gen Mustart 40A cable next to the 32A cable of the Ford Mobile Charger. The specs on the Mustart cable is two 8AWG, one 10AWG, and one 16AWG.

I have been using a Mustart 40A charger on my Rav4EV for three years. Then we got the Mach-e and I took one look at that skinny cord and figured it is only 32A. After reading the threads here, I may dismount the ford charger and stick it in the trunk and go back to the Mustart that I still have. It charges 25% faster and is more likely to keep me in the super off peak electricity rate that I tend to charge in.
