Hey Gang. Took delivery of our '22 Grabber Blue GT-PE last Thursday after a long wait- like everyone else. Ordered 10/20/22, Built 4/5/22, Delivered 5/5/22.
Unfortunately, we noticed a few minor defects after we left the dealership. Contacted them when we got home. They are going to take a look and advise as to the fix. Rubber trim around the small driver side, rear passenger door D shaped window was gashed. Hopefully it's a simple swap of the trim. This showed up pretty clearly on our initial picture with the car at the dealership but we didn't look at the pics until we got home...
More disconcerning is that there are 2 small rock chips in the hood on the passenger side. Our delivery got messed up as they had another MME come in along with mine and the dealership had prepped the wrong car, not realizing it until close to delivery time. We spent over 3 hours waiting for the car to be ready, between cleaning it up and charging. To boot, it was cool and the car was wet and dirty from the road trip (it had arrived on Tues, picked up 48 hours later).
So, needless to say, unfortunately, the dealer probably didn't do their usual level of detailing and PDI.
Now, our first glimpse of the car was in the dealership garage sitting on the charger ahead of detailing. It was dirty and initially looked like it had been driven in the rain based on the dirt streaks along the front and sides but it only had 5.3 miles on the odometer. I also noticed a small flat rock about the size of dime stuck in the air dam on the passenger side. Pointed it out to the rep who had escorted us to look at the car. Given the mileage, and I was assured nobody at the dealership drove the car so I can only believe that the damage happened somewhere along the transport route. Unfortunate as I bet my car was probably loaded at the front, facing forward on the rail car or transport truck and some gravel or sand had been kicked up.
So disappointing when we've waited to so long, delivery botched with wrong car prepped. It really didn't give us a good opportunity to fully inspect it before taking it home. I know this is certainly not one of the worst delivery experiences and $hit happens...
I have no idea how I missed it except that I was there for over 3 hours and feeling nauseous so I was not in good shape for the delivery. Turned out to a minor touch of food poisoning from my morning yogurt smoothie. I felt off all day... Arghh..
QUESTIONS:
-Anybody have experience with the rubber trim? Think it's a simple fix for the dealership body shop?
-More concerned about the rock chips. Down to bare metal.
1)Does the MME have an Aluminum hood?
2)Can this be easily filled, paint touched up, wet sanded and then CC again without re-painting the entire hood?
3)My guess is that Grabber blue s/b an easy match and less of an issue to fix than a metalic color. True or false?
Thoughts on how to fix?
Beyond that, I am absolutely wowed with the entire package. Showed it to my siblings and dad. My sister drove it and she could not contain her excitement. Like most of us who drive an EV for the first time, we are left shocked (no pun intended) and amazed.
