That was one of the best videos I've seen on it. Great ending too.

This video explains the basics of DC Fast Charging and what to expect. I love his videos. Also check out his other videos about 1970s EVs.

Wow really good video. It would have taken out of spec reviews 16 hours to cover that material.

That is his style of doing videos. I also like his review of the Polestar 2 that he bought. Even though he loves the car, he is not shy about pointing out flaws and annoyances. It was interesting to compare his observations to mine about the Mach-E.

I like that he’s friends with Technology Connections, he’s got some great EV primer videos as well

I was all about to pick up a PS2 but the AWD range killed it. Not like I got much more range in the MME, but it sure looks better than the PS2 being straight out of a Volvo S60 from 2005.

I watched about half (will finish the rest later). Great video. I'm going to subscribe to this guy's channel. If for no other reason but for the dig on Out of Spec.

So true.
Ford Mustang Mach-E Great video: DC Fast Charging explained -- "Everything You Need to Know..." 1677008820507

There are 4 EA fast chargers (CCS150, 350kWh) near my home that I use regularly because I have 2 years free charging at EA (limited to 30 minute sessions). I have Hyundai Ioniq 5 (77.4 kWh 800v battery) that I bought while waiting for the MME to be delivered. Two of the four EA spots were "unavailable" for weeks. When working "as advertised", they will allow the Hi5 to go 10-80% SOC well within the 30 minute time. However, in the last two sessions, the EA charger maximum was 50-60kWh, well below the promised rate and the Hi5's capability. At this lower rate, the Hi5-EA combo did 57-83% SOC in 29 minutes. (I don't know their specs but next to me was a Mercedes doing 38kWh and another unknown EV doing 85kWh.) The OP video is right on.

As for mysteriously slow charging, there is blame to go around.

Ford (or anyone) could simply display in the vehicle:
- Rate requested N Kw
- Rate received M Kw

But....maybe the manufacturers want it to be ambiguous...what if the Mach E never requests its advertised charging rate? That would be bad...if you knew it....

Extremely informative and helpful video - fast talking but not too fast and gets all the information across in a straight forward manner. Thanks for posting.

It is possible to get the information from the OBD2 connector. I use Torque Pro and can see what the charger is advertising and what the car is requesting.
