The dealership I bought my MME from, managed to dissatisfy me on sales, financing, service, and parts. Is there any other department that didn't attempt to screw me?

I managed to deal with all of those, but really I shouldn't have to.

No, but I think Ford (and other manufacturers) need to police their dealers better, and have a set of rules that dealers have to follow.

I am not agitating for direct sales. Just a bit more involvement from Ford.

Exactly. All of that still costs money to maintain and manage; the only difference is that dealerships won't be competing with one another for sales. So prices will be fixed higher and there will be far fewer service centers where you can get problems addressed.

A far better solution is for Ford to do a better job policing (and punishing) dealerships when they get out of hand.

Interesting conversation. I bought a Tesla for several reason (Mach E was as yet unavail): 1. I never have to go into a gas station again. 2. The
"regular service" on the car (you know, the ones dealers invent to keep you spending?) is near nil and that means I never have to put up with a dealership again -- and yes, the Tesla model is very different (which is why they're outlawed in some states) -- and 3. I really like the car. The supposed "issues" with the Tesla model pale in comparison with the nightmare dealership model. What I don't see mentioned here is that an EV will very, very likely vastly outlive any ice car ever made. How are conventional dealers going to handle selling cars that rarely break?

We're all sort of BETA enthusiasts right now! But, it's clear where this is all headed. Love the Mach E, BTW.

I just purchased in Maine. Not a big EV state, but at MSRP, our State rebate plus the Ford Options 2500 rebate it was a great deal. They let me take a demo and rack up 300 miles over the last 2 days. I was impressed. I pick it up tomorrow! They had 10 to choose from. A solar company cancelled their order...... I cannot wait.....

BTW I was skeptical about the Ford Options Plan but it worked out to be nearly $5K in total cost less than a conventional 6-7 year auto loan assuming a purchase after the initial term.

If you're in a $2,500 rebate zip code Options is absolutely the way to go. Even at $1,000 it makes the most sense to me.

Tesla does the same thing. Back in 2018, I kept getting junk mail from Tesla rushing me to place my order, before their federal tax credit phase out began. I did and took delivery 12/2018. First phase had their tax credit cut in half to $3750. Guess what, they lowered the price by that much. Yes and again in phase 2. And now that there's talk of having the tax credit reinstated for Tesla, they've slowly been raising the prices on the 3 and Y, by $3500 over the last few months if I'm not mistaken.

In the end they're all out to screw the customer. The difference is you can visit another Ford dealer. If you're dead set on a Tesla, you have no choice but to just swallow it. I've also dealt with Tesla solar soon after I bought the car. It was worse than any traditional auto dealership I've ever had the misfortune to experience. I was nowhere close to signing a deal with them on my solar system, and boy knowing what I know now I feel like I dodged a bullet.

Sorry it was a slow day and digging further into the older threads on the forum to catch up on things here.

This is the reason we have an entirely non-Tesla solar system on our house.

Before Tesla's sales volume exploded, they used to sell maintenance plans. When the Model 3 was first released, they had a much more frequent maintenance schedule. The one that immediately comes to mind is the coolant flush. Now it's a "lifetime" coolant, on the same car that I bought. My guess is they're now too busy to try to make those maintenance $$$.

This was in the 2018 version of the Model 3 manual:
