Swapped wheels sets this weekend on my ‘21 GTPE, so noted specs to add to our verified #s…

stamped inside wheel
20x8J
ET47.5

rough measurements:

wheel + tire + tpms weight : 60.4lbs

8.75” : front face of wheel to rear facing lip
6.25” : backspacing
This equates to ~ 1.87” offset, or 47.5mm

So the GT/PE wheel/tire setup weighs 1-2 lbs more than the 19" Premium wheel. I read the GT/PE wheel was forged but cannot see how that could be if this setup weighs that much. The Pirelli tires on the GT/PE weigh less than the Michelin's on the Premium wheel.

I was quite surprised myself, so weighed all of them… each 60.4lbs

For comparison, weighed my new flow formed ferrada FR8s
20x10 + 275s assy : 55.8lbs
20x9 + 245s assy : 52.0lbs

**Note these weighs were done on a $40 scale from bedbath&beyond ? not talking proform race scales etc

I did expect the FR8 assemblies to be a lb or two more each based on manuf stated weights

Yup, according to those photos, the wheels do not appear to be forged. Ford’s early documentation stated that the GT-PE wheels were forged. That’s a let-down. Im going to have to closely examine mine whenever the car gets here.

How can you tell by the pictures that they're cast or forged? I don't see any type of stamp indicating that they're cast or forged. ?‍♂

For a comparison, I took these weights a few months ago when I got my wheels/tires.
My wheels are larger and my tires are heavier than the OEM tires and my setup is still
a little lighter than the OEM premium setup.

Photo 1, OEM Ford Premium wheel (19x7) with OEM Michelin tire 225/55/19 58.8 lbs.
Photo 2, Signature SV706 forged wheel (20x8.5) Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tire 255/45/20 52.1 lbs.
Photo 3, Signature SV706 forged wheel (20x10) Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tire 295/40/20 56.5 lbs.

Very nice, thanks for posting the details! This is the first confirmation on the GT PE wheels offset - I’m slightly surprised they stuck with the same offset as the 19” wheels, that means they stick out by nearly an inch more (edit - only one cm more, not bad) (edit 2 - DUH the wheel would be 0.5” further out (and in), and the tire would be 0.4” further out (and in)) - I suppose that helps with the stance quite a bit.

This now completes my great table of stock wheel specs (my legacy). I’m still gathering info on wheel weights, though this helps a lot. Any chance you weighed the wheel or the tire by themselves?

great work, it’s been a great resource I’ve used plenty thus far ?? thanks

correct me if wrong, but with same offset, I’d say gtpe wheel would “stick out” .5” more than the premium wheels. In addition they would “stick inward” .5” as well… (.5 + .5 = 1” diff in wheel width)

sadly no weights separately, as I dont plan to dismount the tires

few more inside wheel images if helpful

Wheel sizing calculations make me dizzy, and I’m an engineer… But basically you are right - keeping the same offset means that the addition 1” of wheel size gets split evenly between the inside and the outside, so yes, the rim would be 0.5” further out (and in). I was thinking about the tire, which, still being split evenly between inside and outside, and being 20mm wider (245 vs 225), would give you 10mm (0.4”) more tire on the outside.

Thanks for posting these details. Wondering your thoughts on if you think 19” wheels will clear the brake calipers after you have played with these during your wheel project. My GTPE is due to be delivered to me in Anchorage ( eta is (10/27) about the time we normally have our permanent winter snow on the ground. I would really like to be able to down size the wheels for winter and need to get them ordered ASAP so they get here in time.

The unfinished/not machined portions of the aluminum appear too granular/porous in the photos. Forgings would appear smoother and/or have a more organized grain structure.

It also appears that Ford’s web site for the GT does not include the word “forged” in relation to the wheels. It merely refers to them as aluminum. Bummer, as part of the reason for my opting for the PE package was forged wheels.

guess it would depend on the wheel… This picture doesnt capture it great, but there’s more than .5” here on my 20” setup…

I thought I recalled multiple places on the Ford site and/or brochures using the “forged” terminology in wheel description… not sure if that was edited or they’re just being loose with it, as in ‘rotary forged’ or ‘flow forged’
