So I've had my GT Mach E for just under 3 weeks and the copper colored stitching has started to unravel on the driver's seat. I'm really disappointed because the interior was one of the factors which helped make the decision to buy. I honestly don't know what to ask the dealership to do. Totally new seat cover? Restitch the material? What's reasonable to expect on a $72000 vehicle?

Yikes....

I'd almost tell them to replace the entire seat, maybe even both. If one was defective the chances of the other one being as well is pretty high. You just won't notice it as quickly as I'm assuming you don't have a passenger every day.

Rear seats too? Better safe than sorry!

Wow. That has got to be the world's worst absolute stitching job! Ugggg, this is the same seat I'm getting very soon in my GT. The dealer will more than likely sublet this specialized repair out. No way Ford would authorize a complete seat replacement over minor, aesthetic dethreading. It passed a visual QA/QC check after assembly... Hopefully a one-off goof.

This warranty repair will almost certainly result in a new driver’s side seat bottom cover. Nothing more, nothing less. No “upholstery guy”, no passenger seat also, none of that. The defective part gets replaced. And chances are it won’t happen again.

I see two threads unraveling within 3 weeks on this car, one of not very many delivered to date. Do you really think the stitching is made to last thru 10 years of driving? I'm not so confident...

High wear area/Poor design/Lack of imagination.

Imagine a blue-jeaned bottom scraping that poor thread 2, 4, ..8 times a day for years. That it failed so quickly is telling.

When the old-timers retire the kids have to learn this stuff all over again.

Not necessarily poor design, just poor workmanship on this seat. Let's see if others start reporting the problem before we blame the design.

Were you wearing bedazzled butt pocket jeans?

Kidding. Warranty. I've replaced seat covers before, not hard. They'll fix the design/material defect, no worries.

Who knows at this juncture, right? 2 people with issues could be start of a trend, or it could be that y’all just wear sequined jeans. ?. Seriously though, time will tell, and if it is a legit widespread issue Ford will make improvements/changes. Meanwhile, your covers will get replaced under the 3/36 ??

Update. Dealership have opened a case with Ford and are awaiting approval before doing anything.
